So when do you think Russ will be back?

I feel that odin russ wielding the spear will be the model we end up with.

We have an army of werewolves who stand up strait and talk... It doesn't really stand to reason that big daddy would also be a wolf man among wolf men.

I've always seen Russ as someone who stands apart from his own legion. Like a dog's master if you will... Him then becoming a dog man would be... weird...

Since when do Wulfen talk? All the books I read have them mulling around like well... wolves. They seem incapable of talking or high cognitive thinking.

Having a Primarch come back as a Wulfen is bad idea. You can't really show that to the Imperial citizens, not to mention how does everyone else deal with it? Do they just jail him in the basement until the time for combat begins like SWs do with the Wulfen. Is that what we want for our Primarch is to be living in Roboutes basement until he needs Russ?

I think the whole twin spear thing is a hint that maybe Valdor and Russ are connected. Maybe Valdor will tutor or guide Russ as he ages into Old Man Russ or Odin Russ. Learning to take up the spear and fight with it.

Curse of the wulfen.

A wulfen pack leader talks, struggling to do so in broken fenridisn, bit talking to grimnar and other lords.

His name started with y.

They can talk and communicate, just poorly

yngvir was the pack leader name I think

Yep in curse of the wulfen. Not to say all of them can talk (to my knowledge), just this one that leads a pack that came out of the warp. Hence why I think Russ was talking to them like a man would talk in the warp. He's probably not in corporeal form either which could lead to some story fun. Old man rune priest russ? Tempered through wisdom granted by communing with the spirit of Fenris where rune priests apparently get all their powers from? Which would probably lead to some awesome sagas with regards to the birth of Fenris. Could also account for a lot of visions/weird stuff happening around the Fang in recent books.

Might have gone full nerd just then.

Right around the time GW realizes they aren't going to be able to sustain last years sales numbers across the lifetime of 8th because there are no new models/editions to pump out. Next year will be very telling as to the future of 40k release wise.

I don't see why they would not be able to maintain last year's momentum. It isn't the codices that will have driven sales but the new and expanded armies like Death Guard and Imperial Knights. They can easily do faction books for Emperor's Children and World Eaters to bring them up to DG levels of support. They could probably do the other Chaos legions that are not aligned with the Big 4 too.

Then they might look at doing some of the loyalist chapters as stand-alone codices too. Redoing White Scars would be an excellent excuse to redo the ageing SM bike and release a range of new biker characters (which could be made available to other Chapters).

And those are just ideas for what they might do with MEQs, there are all the other human and Xenos factions to look at too. They have already announced SOBs. I would not be surprised if they pick up on something like Eldar Exodites at some point (because who doesn't want Space Elves riding frikkin dinosaurs? :tongue.: ).

New armies make GW more money than revamping existing ones and I don't think GW will slow down just because they have updated existing armies to 8th. I would expect to see 1-2 all-new armies a year going forwards and probably a similar number campaigns which selectively expand a small group of factions ala Gathering Storm. These Campaign expansions are where I would expect to see Russ and any other new loyalist Primarchs.

Some fans complained that the new codices have not really moved the fluff onwards beyond Dark Imperium in the way they hoped but some have set up interesting plot hooks for future campaigns IMHO.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree regarding Odin...too many names that make him inappropriate:

Bági ulfs, Vaoi Vitnis - Enemy of the Wolf

Bölverkr - Evil worker

Ginnarr - Deceiver

Glapsvior - Swift to Deceive, Maddener

Göndlir - Wand Bearer

Hnikarr, Hnikuor- Over -thrower

Skollvaldr - Ruler of Treachery

Too Chaotic for my tastes...

I assume this is the list you are referring to?

Because 7 out of 170 different epithets is pretty minor. Especially since epithets out of context lose some meaning (for example who is giving the epithet) . Plus using Odin as a base archetype does not mean those particular aspects you highlight need to be included.

I think that in order to keep up with sales, GW is going to have to release another army. Looking at it, chaos are the lead contenders. GW have confirmed orktober and unless there are any official hints from GW I don’t think the new army will be released until the new year. After this army is released I think then we will see Russ. So my guesstimate is March/April (would love March as then is my bday, so will be a nice little present to myself aha)

Lol well he’s not literally becoming Odin...

I don't think he is coming, I can think of reasons why, and people could counter-reason why I am wrong. However the idea of him coming has died for me. I think GW might be happy with RG for a more unified SM force vs 4 Daemon Primarchs and the shattered CSM forces.

I think that in order to keep up with sales, GW is going to have to release another army.

Considering many of GW's current armies are either poorly supported (the AdMech still has no flyers or transports), or downright unsupported (here's looking at you, Adepta Sororitas), I think the company should focus on improving what they already have, instead of rushing out a half-baked product line.

Looking at it, chaos are the lead contenders.

The Emperor's Children and the followers of Slaanesh? IIRC, that Chaos army has the least support from the company.

GW has always struggled to depict Slaanesh on the tabletop without going too far beyond their PG-13 target. The old metal daemonettes were just a bit too risque for some parents I suspect.

The HH has somewhat rebranded Slaanesh to be about all forms of excess and perfection (particularly in terms of warfare). This gives them a new aesthetic to work around rather than the old "sex, drugs and rock'n'roll". Also worth noting that Slaanesh seems to be making a comeback in AoS too so some sort of equivalency would not be surprising. Daemonic Fulgrim has already been hinted at.

I think a design asthetic change is incoming to slaanesh.

I think it'll go the "perfect" and overly designed look.

Marine equipment, archeao tech, kept in perfect working order, no dirt, a crisp fresh paint job on all of their equipment, everything tuned perfectly.

I think it is pessimistic to expect Robby G to be the only loyalist Primarch to come back. Obviously the release of 8th has slowed down the release of the Primarchs but all indications are they are still coming.

Honestly at this point I expect we'll get the next loyalist Primarch spring or early summer 2019 to kick off a new summer campaign/event thing like Curse of the Wulfen or the Fall of Cadia. I'd expect this release to either shortly follow or coincide with the release of the new Sisters of Battle line and probably be paired with a new release of Slaanesh featuring Fulgrim, who I think will be the next Daemon Primarch.

I agree that GW has struggled with how to represent Slaanesh and with the End Times/Age of Sigmar releases seemed to flirt with the idea of squatting Slaanesh entirely but have more recently walked that back.

Like the changes to Nurgle I expect we'll see some serious redesign of Slaanesh with the release, probably 2-3 new kits for the Emperor's Children, a unit in power armor, one in Terminator armor and maybe a third kit of bikers or raptors or something speedy and assault oriented. Aesthetic-wise I think we will see an increase in cloth, chem injectors, cylinders and tubes, lots of screaming faces and vox amplifiers and the like, hooves and claws and fewer horns and tentacles than other chaos product lines.

I expect we'll start to hear more details after new years.

He is coming. Mortarion in the Lords of Silence book confirmed that all the primarchs are back in 40k. All the demon primarchs for chaos and all surviving loyalist primarchs are out and fighting in 40k. It is just a question of when not if.

That depends, how many other fathers who walked out under the guise of popping down to the shop actually return? And if he does return do you think he'll want to come back into our lives slowly maybe getting some lunch or something or will just expect us to accept him?
