Printer friendly (i.e., less black ink) WL traits

Well I wanted to avoid discussing the codex at all until I've had my first game this Saturday, but since you've kindly posted this up, I have a couple of questions for discussion.

Does the warlord trait effects here actually supercede the ones in the codex? Or is it actually the "Increase aura effect" after performing the deeds of legend? At first I thought it was to replace the entire trait, but Saga of Majesty actually confuses me.

If this document Saga of Majesty is to be taken as total replacement, then it seems to be VERY odd. There seems to be two immediate effects followed by one Deed of Legend effect

Effect no. 1: Unit is never affected by morale tests. But normally warlords are characters who are already units of one. So what is the use of having being "Fearless" if there is no aura? The only way to get the aura is by performing the Deed of Legend, at which the warlord will finally get a 6" warlord trait. Intentional? if yes, it is a very strange trait and I would think it shouldn't be used except for the Efect No. 2....

Effect no. 2: Whatever aura the unit has, barring the specified ones like  Explodes, Healing Balms, Battlesmith, Psychic and Relic effects, will increase by 3". NOW THAT IS MORE LIKE IT! A nine inch aura for reroll 1s to hit and wound? Yes please! Ironically, this may make me take Logan finally, not because I want his fearless wolf guard bubble, and make his slow terminator armour a LITTLE BIT less unwieldy. And for those of you who like the Yiff chariot, even better thanks to the huge base.

Deed of Legend effect: And here is where it gets confusing again, or maybe I'm confusing myself. The deed itself is not complicated, our warlord must kill the enemy warlord. So as I mentioned in Effect No. 1, the trait seems useless as despite giving fearless to the character, it is of no use UNTIL it becomes an aura of 6".

Can somebody help me out here?

The way I read it, you are expanding any bubble effect you have right away. If you slay the warlord, other characters within 9 inches (6+3) get to extend their auras by 3 inches- save for the exclusions.

As well as giving nearby units 8th ed fearless as a bonus.

I hope you are right, and this doesn't get FAQ into something else. Personally though, I think it's a tall order to have your warlord kill another warlord but hey, like I said, I'm very happy with Bjorn and Logan's expanded aura already. Puts us similar to the Black Templar in aura range.

My only tinge of FAQ sences would be the idea that the 6” deed would also get the +3”. It’s a small thing though, I’m not sure how many units I’m going to deathstar in the hopes of getting a StWL.

For me, this will tie in to my current general plan: the army supported by characters workings AS ONE!!! LIVE TOGETHER! FIGHT TOGETHER! DIE TOGETHER! BOOZE AND ....... LADIES TOGETHER LATER!

Somewhat kidding. My army is mechanized and centred on a moving wall of gun platforms and infantry supported by the leaders, whose primary role is support, beatstick secondary.
