Jackalwolf
Hey guys, So with the impending addition of my Varagyr I'm aiming for a 3,000 points list. Since I've got Russ and my THawk as passion project, both need to be included and also since I won't have the option of having fully painted 3,000 points otherwise. With that in mind, how does this list look? Onslaught, 3,000 points Starting on the table HQ: Hvarl Red-blade with a command squad of 3 Tartaros terminators Elites: Iron Priest with Augury Scanner and melta bombs Elites: Contemptor Dreadnought with Kheres and CCW with heavy flamer Heavy: Land Raider Proteus with Exploratory Augury Array (Hvarl + command squad in it) Heavy: Vindicator with Laser Destroyer Array Arriving from the sky HQ: Caster of Runes HQ: Speaker of the Dead with Great Frost Blade Troops: Varagyr Wolf Guard Terminator Squad, 3x power fists, 1x chainfist, 4x frost claw Troops: Varagyr Wolf Guard Terminator Squad, 3x power fists, 1x chainfist, 4x frost claw LOW: Leman Russ with the Wolf-kin of Russ LOW: Thunderhawk Gunship with Thunderhawk Cannon Since it's Onslaught I'll always be second unless I seize initiative so I will need to keep my ground troops alive until the Thunderhawk arrives, and I cannot take a Rite of War but: Hvarl giving scout to 3x units means the Land Raider, the Vindicator and the Contemptor can do scout move to guarantee survival in Turn 1 With the Exploratory Augury Array, I have 88.9% of chances of having my Thunderhawk arrive on Turn 2 So overall it does feel like I still have a Rite of War with re-rolling reserves and scout for all my army on the field. How do you think this list would fare? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/349838-3k-sw-onslaught-advice-appreciated/ Share on other sites
Ultramarinebo
Nice list man, From memory I thought Hvarl could only confer scout to your infantry so that rules out the vindi and contemptor. Alternatively you could throw the scout on one of the Thunder hawks' transported squads and outflank it for added chaos. I like the terminator focus but I'm personally drawn to deathsworn Thunder hammer squads as another option. Dishing out unwieldy attacks even when your dead means they remove almost everything. If your thinking competitively, I'd be throwing in a caestus or storm eagle to deliver some of those termies rather than all eggs in one Thunderhawk basket. Unknown Legionnaire
Battle-Cunning: Up to three Infantry units which are in the same Detachment as Hvarl Red-Blade may be given the Scout special rule. Just sayin'. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/349838-3k-sw-onslaught-advice-appreciated/#findComment-5161160 Share on other sites
Jackalwolf
Opla thanks for the pointer. Will add 15 grey slayers then now that I figured how to scale them up. The_Stray_Idea
Wasn’t it in an FAQ that alternative detachments could take rites of war. Don’t quote me on that but I have a hankering that’s the case. As per the list looks great man. Enjoying seeing a thunder hawk over the usual spartan. Very cool!
