Primaris DW Allies

I'm interested in mixing in some allies with my almost 100% Deathwatch army. I was curious what Imperial force you think compliments such an army best. I've been thinking about a Stygies admech army, since long range heavy firepower is something I often feel I lack. Also from a fluff angle I like their interest in Xenos and feel such an alliance might work out storywise.

Honestly, The biggest problems i typically see in DW lists is low CP, low mobility, and inefficient melee.  We dont have great long range AT, but that can be offset by our abundance of mid/close range AT, especially backed by Thunder hammer captains.

I think IG are very, very strong for every Imperium army.  a 200 pt battalion with 2 powerful recharge mechanics?  Yes, please.
Blood angels can deliver a lot of our other needs.  Smashcaptains create some layered AT options.  Scouts, especially with IG battallion, give some fantastic screening.  Libby dreadnaughts can make a pretty versatile platform.
Custodes banana captains are mobile, and can solve flier problems, but suck CP from our DW.
Space wolves will likely become another contender, with 6" HI and 2+ thunder hammers, as well as a relic armor that makes knights super easy to kill.
If you really like long range AT, Cronus and 3 laspredators is good.  But if it gets alpha'd you probably will lose.
Going heavy IG is never bad.  But you'll find your DW supporting an IG playstyle rather than the other way.  Leman Russ tanks, basilisks, anti-air platforms for threshing through banana bikes and tau/deldar, tons of screen, Bullgryn 2++ rocks, Ogryn 2++ bodygaurd, the list goes on...
Death corps of krieg gets a mention.  Backline troops that dont take morale from shooting.  HQ's on robot horses that are surprisingly effective counterchargers for their points.  Scout move transports to create board control early game.
AdMech has some cool stuff, but unfortunately most of what they can bring, IG does better, more efficiently.

Aside:  If you're going repulsors for transports, and you have an open detachment slot, blow 100 or so point on inquisition.  You get a cheap psyker that can mind control or deny overwatch.  More importantly, you get 1man unit acolytes that can go in your repulsor.  If someone blows up your transport with guys inside, you can lose the 8-10pt acolytes instead of the 20+ point marines.  Give them storm bolters and theyll actually contribute decently for their points.
Its a trick i used to great effect with my wulfen in planes SW list.  Extra fluff points for DW, too.  Ordo xenos with DW?  Hell, yeah.

Edit:  forgot knights:
1 shooty knight can be good.  trap your enemy between forward DW and a castellan or similar.  IG CP battery becomes necassary for fueling DW and a Knight.
1 gallant, maybe with a couple armigers can be good as well.  Creates forward pressure turn 1, keeps your opponent boxed into his deployment for your turn 2 deep strikes, keeps him from spreading out his screen as much.

I’ll try to field an admech battalion, 3X5 men skitarii team, one of those with a couple of transuranic mega snipers+omnispex, HQ an enginseer and a dominus (to reroll ones on the snipers mostly).

The skitarii will be on the backfield camping and sniping, maybe one team as an incursor (with a stratagem they can behave like scouts if necessary)

Stygies VII it is for the -1 to hit in shooting attacks if more than 12”

They are also good if I chose to field my castellan knight for repairs

So DW as an attack force, a castellan for power shooting, and admech as described above.....It might be a good combination

For an elite, low model count army with good med-short range firepower like most DW forces are, I think you might do well with a Cadian Battalion that looks like this:

-Company Commander

-Company Commander (Aquila)

-Pask with BC, LC, Plasma Sponsons

-Astropath

-5 Scions with 2x Hotshot Volleyguns

-5 Scions with 2x Hotshot Volleyguns

-30 Conscripts

-HWS with 3x Lascannon

-HWS with 3x Lascannon

-HWS with 3x Lascannon

The conscripts screen the Lascannon HW squads (Astropath can make them Fearless or improve their armor save), the Company Commanders give orders to HW squads, Pask puts the first wound(s) on a target in order to activate the "Overlapping Fields of Fire" stratagem... this means you can have 9 Lascannons shooting at BS3+ with full rerolls to hit (and ignoring cover, thanks to the Astropath)... finally, the Scions can DS and grab objectives while peppering your opponent with HS Volleygun fire at 24".... all of this gets you a solid backfield firebase that provides long range fire support for the Deathwatch while also adding +5CP to your army and the chance to get more with Kurov's Aquila.

I'm also considering an Admech battalion to shore up some ranged AT for my primaris deathwatch.

Dominus, Enginseer, 3x5 man ranger squads for backfield, and 2x Neutronagers.

For 145pts a pop, the onagers are a dead steal. The techpriests can repair them, and give them rerolls of 1 to hit. They give each other a 5++ wth reroll 1s, they can reposition and shoot without penalty, and with stygies they are -1 to hit. That seems like a pretty good firebase to me, without breaking the bank.

I was considering onagers too, but I find more suitable a couple of vendreads TLlas+missile.....decent AT firepower for 165pts, hitting on 2+, not degrading, save 2+, 6+fnp, can use mission tactics, reroll 1s stratagem bubble (if no captain close)

And btw I have those 2 vendreads, the onagers I would have to buy :-)
