If you could be any character from the 40K universe.........

Who would you be?

I was thinking this the other day and I think I’d either be Harlan Nayl or Uriel Ventris just cos they’ve been two of the characters I’ve really got into. Don’t know why but they got stuck in my head more than any others I’ve read about in the lore.

An interesting topic.

I would probably be either Honsou (I feel that I share his relentless drive for success), Ahriman (because I prize knowledge and would go to any lengths to assist those close to me, even if the results aren't quite as I intended) or Talos (because I admire his dedication to his father's wishes and the air of nobility he still carries around him, even after the things he has seen / done).

All around, I guess I'm a Chaos kinda guy!!

Alpharius-Omegon. Do whatever you want, whenever you want, wherever you want. Fight for the side your left thumb fancies today. Troll inquisitors and make your enemies (or friends) fight each other while eating popcorn sittin on the Emperors lap on Terra. And Do not embrace chaos. Perfect?

If I could be anyone in 40K, by choice I guess I'd have it be Rogue Trader Durandal Grohe.  He's maybe still alive (which is nice), wealthy enough and influential enough to work the Damocles Gulf runs, being both respected for his knowledge on Tau and other such xeno races (I like inclusivity and more progressive things), and escaped from the Imperial Navy and a nutjob in the Inquisition which tried to kill him but couldn't, so he went to talk with Farsight.  So I get to still travel, work with interesting people that others would sya is foolish, a bit of wealth, and not having to listen to a repulsive overarching government of stagnation like the Imperium.  Sounds good, and it's not outside my realms of bad luck that hasn't killed me thus far.  I'd rather not get shot to pieces than get shot at, thank you.

If I had to be some named character it's probably Kaleb Arin, the Death Guard equerry of Garro.  Poor luck, failed the trials to become a space marine when he attempted, barely avoided a totally miserable fate, still had faith in his God (Emperor) in a legion that would turn, not the greatest job but still enjoys it for what it is, and lives more to be a help to others than himself.  Fortunate enough to be a serf and not immediately killed... just eventually, and horribly... trying to distract someone.  Still a nice guy though, so that's a plus.

Think I need a drink now... ugh.

Asdrubel Vect, Dante, Yarrick, or the Swarmlord.

Vect because he represents an evil I find more sinister and terrifying than anything chaos can come up with. He's also the biggest pimp in 40k.

Dante because imo he's the most heroic Space Marine in the 41st millenium. I just love him as a character and he leads my favorite chapter.

Yarrick to be the meanest non Astartes in the galaxy. Where even Orks respect this grizzled old man is saying so much.

The Swarmlord to be something completely alien that is attached to the hivemind. I would also love to be a giant alien with four arms carrying swords representing the accumulated tactical genius the Hive Mind is capable of fielding.

In a serious tone? Nobody. The warhammer universe is horrifying. Even for the greatest heroes, death is not even a salvation from the misery of life in the grimdark future as you might get gnawed on my daemons/tortured, or end up some lobotomized Legionaire of the Damned or some variety of "imperial daemon". There is no true haven, as even if you live a wonderful and happy life for a millennium with rejuvie treatments, you will inevitably die and face the horrors of the warp. Even if all that awaits us in reality is cold oblivion, I'd take that over being torn to pieces.

But, disregarding the sobering (un)reality of death in 40k, a Rogue Trader's life wouldn't be undesirable. You're rich, get access to ship(s), and aren't some sterile unemotional killing machine like an Astartes, while still having a lifespan comparable to one (lasting several centuries). You also have access to areotech that drastically increase your survivability in a firefight, and can make powerful friends by giving Chapters or Inquisitors favors.

Oh that one is easy. The 40k universe is absolutely terrible to live in and even worse to be important in. If I could chose I'd be some unimportant guy living on some unimportant paradise world in either ultramar (because it's the best protected and governed place in the imperium), far away from anything or in the T'au Empire. :D

I would be Belial.  If you have to live in a Grimdark universe of Only War, might as well be a perfect badass.  Second choice would be Alessio Cortez, because he's clearly unkillable (though he has a more... disarming presence nowadays.)

A Rogue Trader sounds like the best opprotunity to be something like Starfleet/Mass Effect (post Dominion War Starfleet, we aren't going love and peace, we got guns and can come out swinging) without the weighty responsibilities of being an Inquisitor. I wouldn't want to have to kill a planet...but exploring space, expanding the Map? Yes.

My starship would be the Shalon.

As far as being one of the "good guys" goes, I'd want to be either Corvus' Corax or Vulkan. Both are humanitarians, both are pretty nice guys, and both have some really epic moments. The only downside is that both of them got seriously screwed over during the Heresy....

As far as being a "bad guy" (or living like I'm in GTA) goes, either Fulgrim or Slaanesh. I'd probably want to be slaanesh tbh. I'd get to live my life my way without having to worry about anything but eating some delicious Eldar flavored bonbons souls.

The alternative of course, for the selfless route, is an Alpha Class Psyker specializing in psychokinesis or biomancy. So long as you can resist the temptations of Chaos you'll be powerful enough to destroy literal fleets and unleash army-destroying levels of firepower that could even prevent Cadia from falling. The only limits to your ability to effect the course of events would be location.

Living as an archon would be pretty interesting. You know, in the paranoid about everything to the point of mental and spiritual illness, shake your hand with one and stab you in the back with the other, survival of the best not just the fittest kind of way.

Even the christmas text messages would be poison.

Lets face it, it'll end in a way worth talking about.

Pedro Kantor. Rise to become the Chapter Master of the Crimson Fists. Survive two invasions of my Chapter home world, one from orks and the other by demons. Meet Guilliman and be completely reinforced. Be told that Dorn would be proud and keep on keeping on.

Not a bad life!

Obscenely rich Imperial Trading House scion within the Ultramar domain. Preferably like 7th or 8th down the line so I don’t have to deal with responsibilities, politics, or succession - but still obscenely rich.

I mean, there’s a chance that some chaos or xenos incursion, or some incredible slight against the Administratum might bring the House down but still...

I’d spend my days eating real grapes, lounging around and spectating pit combat (from a safe distance and behind metres of armored plastiglass).
