CSM Video Game

Is this an excuse for a continuation of the Space Marine game? I'd take it :P If we did get something, I'd really like something different and not the same old boring match ups.

Let's stomp around in power armour carving up a Craftworld, crush some upstart Tau colony, or chopping through a hive fleet. Something other than Chaos twirling its moustache and fighting the Imperium (again)...

Oh man. I waited forever to get SH: Deathwing on my PS4. That thing was torture. It was mostly walking, shooting, and corridors of boredom. That game was truly developed by the forces of evil!

However, I'd love another Space Marine type game from Relic. I still love playing it from time to time and using my chaos armor for the survival mode. Raptor it up with strikes to the ground and whipping about with a giant maul or getting my combi bolter out and just unleashing a storm of bolt rounds. If they can take that game and tune it up I'd be all for it.

I know it'll probably never happen but if Chaos Space Marines as a faction received a video game series what would you like to see in terms of story and gameplay?

I'd want it to play like a solid mixture of the Space Marines game from relic and the Transformers: War for Cybertron game (so with a little more emphasis on cover and a story connected by multiple protagonists).

As far as the story goes, I'd want it to vary depending on which legion, god, and backstory, you choose. Since there's eight traitor legions(technically nine when you include the fallen) and four separate gods, that would mean that there would be about twenty-four separate storylines. I'd want character customization, the ability to choose a certain class, and the ability to choose your weapon load out and companions.

But don't you remember? Cover is for the Weak.

As to what game I'd like? Honestly, it'd depend on which Legion.

Or, we could get a Black Crusade game where the gameplay changes on which Legion you're playing as currently.

Like, a Darksiders (hack & slash with some platforming and puzzles) for World Eaters, a Shooter for Black Legion, etc.

I've always thought a 40k videogames campaign (centering on guard) would be like Older Call of Duty games, where you switch regiments as the story progresses on a single planetary campaign.

Vostroyans wave assault, Kasrkin or Harkoni Warhawks or Elysians as rapid sphess paratroopers, Gaunts ghosts as infiltration, catachans as jungle fighting.

The final stretch of the campaign, where you had been fighting against human resistance would be as a space marine of the Ravenguard and you would proceed to turn the "rules" you had learned on their ears, where you do unto normal humans what super soldiers in power armor do to normal humans.

The guard segments would take heavily from older cod games, and the space marine part would part like becoming a Pilot in Titanfall 2, and part Dynasty Warriors with guns, with soldiers panicking and running from you (only to get shot by Commisars), as you and your squad murder the enemy relentlessly, with mechanics in place if you take out the Commisars/officers the enemy units would break.

A chaos marine focused game would be like Gears of War and Space Marine, a lot of skulking around, looking for ammo and the like, and taking things up close and personal to save ammo. "Chosen of Abaddon" .

Though, why have a chaos marine game? Why not have a game where you are a lowly cult leader working on growing your cult and get the eyes of the gods upon you? That would be awesome in my mind! :biggrin.: Syndicate-ish maybe?

You could also do a Syndicate-like from the POV of a CSM character growing their cult on a particular planet and trying to take it over and get promoted to Daemon Prince, with possible rivals like other CSM, Genestealer Cults, Assassins, and/or the Inquisition. That could work for any of the Legions (with differing mechanics for each). Then you could complicate things with big world shaking events happen every so often like Ork Invasions and (if you don't crush the GSC), Tyranid assaults. If you really screw up, you could end up fighting a full scale war with IG/Space Marines or have Eldar or Grey Knights dropping in on you.

Call the game Warhammer 40,000: Dark Apostle. :)

Keep it alien at first. The audience needs some time to see the CSM as anything other than Cthulu-kowtowing madmen and putting them up against the vaguely-sympathetic Imperium, or even Eldar or Tau, won't acheive that. Have them carve up some Tyranids or Orks and demonstrate some acidic snark whilst doing so. Later in the game, holier-than-thou Astartes can sneeringly descend from the heavens for you to take them down a peg, and a few mindless tech-automatons can help hammer home the tubulent freedom the CSM enjoy.

The Imperium is alien enough!

A worker in the underhive of some un-named world (would he even know what the world is called?) that realizes the reality of it all, the Imperium is not for him. He is but a slave under the yoke of the Imperium, working long hours for the betterment of a few entitled up-hivers...or so the whispers from the darkest shadows tells him...

Rebellion starts one soul at a time... :)

Black crusade. Space marine style gameplay but with war for/fall of Cybertron character changes, as above.

Cultist for stealth and sabotage levels, marine for normal levels, terminator sections for all out smash levels.

Alternatively some kind of Eye of terror version of the god of war series where you play a possessed marine that unleashed the Daemon when you gather enough souls, and you maraud around killing daemons.

This might be a dumb and somewhat unoriginal idea, but as a FromSoft fanatic, I'd say: a game with Bloodborne-like gameplay (a melee combat focus, with bolt weaponry largely directed towards parrying, and the option of sorcery to round it out) about a loyalist Space Marine abandoned on a Daemon world that the dark gods are warring over. The player is directly tempted to join each of the four gods' factions, giving them the ability to spend Favor earned by slaying foes to strengthen their player character, with bonuses for improving statistics befitting one's god. While marked to a god, progress in the game causes the world to become more manifestly daemonic in the direction of that god; this area disposition is also generally affected for all players worldwide by a multiplayer invasion system through which one may also earn Favor with their god by slaying champions of the other gods. The NPCs, other space marines abandoned to the daemon world with your assault force or millenia earlier, would also be influenced by the gods, your actions either shielding them from this influence or encouraging it, working to determine their own eventual and inevitably tragic fates.

I was thinking you could play a Renegade who flees from Imperial judgement by heading into the Eye of Terror and out of necessity, unexpected brotherhood, and personal ambition build your own Warband with an eclectic cast of characters throughout the story and make various choices that could enable to declare allegiance to a particular god, go Undivided, or remain Unaligned and even at some point maybe join the Black Legion. Of course there's situations that demand you battle notable characters like Kranon the Relentless, Celestine the Living Saint, Typhus Herald of the Plague God, and others. It'd be kind of like the Witcher where you make choices but the protagonist is still his own character too with his own relationships and opinions.

Something akin to Dark Souls I think, set on a Daemon world. Fighting through the remnants of that planet, bosses that are native beasts and Warp-mutated abominations. Other players may enter your game to try and kill you for the glory of themselves/their warband/their god. There would be subtle mechanics that help to edge you closer towards a particular god's patronage. No real class system, but something based off Black Crusade where the different gods give you XP bonuses to certain stats, etc.

Plus an epic soundtrack.

Giving a Chaos campaign for 40k Inquisitor: Martyr would be a good start, yes you can run as a Radical Inquisitor, but its just not the same.

And i like this game, for what i've played ( only 18hours) its quite good, but still would have loved a chaos centric campaign...
