Kinstryfe
I'm building my zillionth guard army as part of a larger project and I'm wondering if anyone could answer a few things for me. I have several Ork Trukks from an old abandoned project, and was wondering how they would work as a Taurox stand in if given the proper weapons, paint job, etc. The army is a small cadre of imperial cultists running as ragtag bodyguards to a religious figure with the Tallarn keyword, and will mostly be running with Grenade Launchers supported by parts of my other regiments. Are the Taurox and Trukk a similar footprint? Do you think it's within the spirit of counts-as if all the weapons are accurate? I'm not worried about prettying them up as I want them to look like salvaged civilian vehicles, and Taurox seem more sensible than chimeras to that effect. Thanks for opinions and help. Maerlen
How about genestealer cultist trucks? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350015-imperial-guard-trukks/#findComment-5158517 Share on other sites
Bjorn Firewalker
How about genestealer cultist trucks? Makes sense, as the Goliath truck was originally a civilian vehicle, manufactured on multiple worlds, and easy for the cults to acquire. Kinstryfe
Well, I already own 4 or more Ork Trukks, so mostly was considering the viability of killing two birds with one stone. Inso
The only problem that I can see is that a Taurox is fully armoured and enclosed so in order to proxy one, you would need to do the same to the Trukk for WYSIWYG. I think that they are roughly of comparable size but it is going to take a bit of work to convert them. That said, new wheels, some munitorum armoured containers and some plasticard could work. https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Munitorum-Armoured-Containers The containers can be cut down, prior to assembly and used as the cargo/troop carrying area and some of the off-cuts could be used to armour-up the driver's cab. This place has some nice wheels but there are others out there too: https://www.zinge.co.uk/collections/vehicle-accessories?page=5 Apart from that, adding the right weapons is all you'd need to do. I think that it would be difficult for some players to accept an open topped Taurox, hence my suggestion with the containers. I was going to suggest the same. Over on dakka dakka, someone made supply trucks from Taurox kits and Munitorum Containers: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/760161.page A Taurox made from ork trukks could work and would probably look somewhat similar to that. FlamingDeth
Dave Taylor, a hobbyist of some renown, reversed engineered ork trukks into guard vehicles about a decade ago as he figured trukks were ubiquitous enough that they likely came from some standard imperial design. They counted as chimeras, as tauroxes didn't exist, but you may be able to use it as inspiration anyways. http://davetaylorminiatures.blogspot.com/2009/06/troop-transport-truck-tutorial-part-one.html?m=1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350015-imperial-guard-trukks/#findComment-5158835 Share on other sites

walter h
This is a must now. I have used the,Ork battlewagon,as the base for my ,Imperial transport. The early crusades used half track transports,so the Ork battlewagon, was probably derived from the those transports.
