Ultramarines Legion Progress (Vykes, I finally came through)

I feel like I just got over the burnout of ETL, and I've painted about 50 Ork Boyz this week. However, I did get my Sicarian Venator (finally) finished. Yeah, Vykes the same one I've been promising since ETL. I also painted up my FW Legion Herald today, and he's in there as well. With new foam on the way for my legion and I can get them out of my project bins I figured I'd set them up and get some photos on overall progress. Oh, and to answer a few questions I know will pop up. My army is based on the Battle of Calth, that's why you'll see some dead Word Bearers or dying Word Bearers on the models or bases. That is also why the Sergeants' helmets are red here, as Guilliman ordered they be painted red during the Calth conflict. You'll also notice my Ultraguard, these represent the Numinus 61st, the brave mortals that first fought during the battle.

-Laughs- dude, that's the way to go! Hey, that legion command staff with the herald and other officers is definitely lookin' good. I tend to have problems with primarchs going places without banners around them. Not sure why, just feels like a thing that should happen. Seriously mate, it looks awesome and that'd be a great army to get in a dust up with!  And again, Big Bad Bobby G is still really rocking it there, but man does that champion really fit the Ultra-aesthetic. 

 

Likewise, I still like seeing the Word Bearer integration, does really hit the theme well and nice contrast with the red and blue as always. I see some red helms of censure, eh?  Always a cool thing that came from the XIIIth. Aye, I like it, I really do. So they more a collection of the legion companies/chapters of Calth, or any one particular group?  Any expansion plans?

 

Bah, now I'll need to make up a HH topical thread... so many questions for the community already.

Naturally my army is more a collection of survivors and consolidated companies from Calth. I'm splitting my legion into two distinct groups- those with Guilliman during the battle (red Helms on sergeants per the primarchs orders to have a visual indication of the chain of command) and the Arcology X warriors under Remus Ventanus. (Black "x" mark painted inside the ultramarines chapter badge on the right side).

 

I cannot say it was my idea for the Emperors Champion to be my praetor. I saw one on facebook one day and it wasnt like I was doing anything black templars with him.
