Rotigus and heralds or Mortarion for 2K points

So I have a 1500 point list, pure infantry Poxwalker based, not the most effective army but it's fun with ridiculous rules but other than Terminators I'm lacking big heavy hitters.

But for the jump to 2000pts I need help deciding between Rotigus and 2 Poxbringers or Mortarion or should I wait for the rules of the Gellerpox infected?

The Poxbringers are there to provide extra psychic and combat power and the ability to heal Rotigus, they also give me +1 CP being in a supreme command detachment, Rotigus himself has plenty of psychic power and is good in combat too. However I have no other Daemons in my army and I would also like to magnetise his head and arms and having never done anything like that I'm wondering if it'll be more work than it's worth.

Mortarion as you know is ridiculously good but is also massive and more annoying to transport and very challenging to paint. I'm also bothered my opponents may cry unfair whenever I want to use him and refuse (which is understandable in my opinion) or they'll bring out a Knight Castellan (which I have nothing able to deal with it). Both cost the same points, money wise I'll just buy a box of Plaguebearers to save £12 instead of buying 2 heralds so that's ok.

Sorry for waffling and I think I know what people will say but I'd still like to hear your input, since it'll be a fairly significant purchase.

Mortarion is worth having if you can afford him. In my local gaming store people know I have him and will sometimes ask me to bring him. Others plan that I will bring him, but I always ask either way. The thing that is important to me is that we both have fun with the game.

Just remember that to get the best use out of him, requires that you spend more points. Spending points on his bodyguard and/or a psycher with warp time. Then again you could spend the points on bringing a bigger target. Something that lets him live longer and gets him into combat quicker.

It really depends on where and who you play.

If you put Mort in a very strong Thousand Sons list he is very different from Mort with poxwalkers.

My groups are well aware of him and without careful planning on my part he’s dead pretty quickly. If someone is totally unaware then they will feel like it’s super unfair.
