Non Teleporting Kill Team Setups

There's no lack of a list of effective setups for KTs in teleportarium, whether it's Storm Bolter Dakkateams or massed plasma from Primaris Marines, it's all basically out there. But you have to start with some stuff on the table, so how do you equip your teams that AREN'T dropping in.. Mechanized Vets? Camping Stalkers? Cheap Intercessors? Mobile Autobolt/Aggressor teams? I'm curious to hear what people use. Please don't say a Guard Battalion or three squads of BA Scouts.. that :cuss is weak and is the easy answer

due to the fact i have an jet pack detachment in deepstrike, i set up 3 squads on the table, 2 for the front lines, 1 for the back field for beacon and just have to remember that my HQ Beacon has to be 3 inches if i want them somewhere.

As of now its:

1 squad :

5 SB and Chainswords (1 with SS) with Watchmaster

- Razorback TL -

2 squad:

1 WS with Xeno Blade / Bolter

1 BS with Lightning Claws

2 Vets Power Axe and Bolter

1 Vet Bolter and Shield

1 Frag Cannon

- Razorback TL -

3 squad Beacon In (Anti Elite Infantry / Tank Chipper)

1 WS with Power Lance & SB

1 VV with Pistol and Chainsword

2 SB & SS

2 Power Lance & SB

3 Plasma Guns & Chainswords

1 Frag Cannon

- Beacon Angelis -

Still debating on putting Beacon on the Librarian with Jetpack or Watchmaster riding with the 1st squad

On the Primaris side of things I have grown to like the 5 auto bolt rifle intercessors with 1 aggressor. Advancing to objectives and shooting 10 shots at 30", ap -1, with no penalties and just sitting there for the rest of the game so the aggressor can double shoot. It comes to 142 points for the squad.

I have two stay at home squads,

First has a HB, ML and 3 stalkers to objective sit with ven dread and razorback to benefit from watchmaster re rolls. They leverage the two MW strats.

Other is 2 FC and 3 shotguns plus characters in a Rhino to advance first turn and pop smoke and put some pressure on.

The two squads I find myself using every game are: 1) 5 man squad with stalker bolters, and 2) 5 man squad with bolters & chainswords with a sergeant with combi-flamer and black shield with power sword all in a razorback.

The first squad is great as a backfield squad; my opponents generally ignore them because they tend to be more of a nuisance than a real threat early in the game and when they are in cover they are difficult to hurt with small arms fire. They have been very consistent in general and, while they don't tend to dominate the game or anything, they can put pressure on your opponents infantry & screens and screen your own deployment from deep strikers and hold backfield objectives. They are often one of my last squads on the table and their long range can be critical at the end of a game.

The second squad is just solid and versatile; i tend to put them in an assault-cannon razorback and throw them into the thick of things in the mid-field. They tend to either die gloriously first or second turn or grind it out until the end. They are one of the few deathwatch units that I use where I actually want them to be fighting in melee. This combo is also really nice for killing/controlling large enemy units as they have a lot of basic shots and attacks; 12-16 for the razorback and 10-16 bolter/flamer shots in rapid fire range followed up by 17 attacks in melee and the razorback can even be used to eat overwatch in a pinch. Plus you can fit a support character in the razorback with the squad for some added punch or to protect the character.

Some good replies in here. I really like the dakka Autobolt intercessors with an Aggressor, it's cheap, can reliably move up and has a great threat range of 31-36" with all double tapping.

For those using the Rhino FC squad, do you find that it gets tied up without having a VV, or does it not matter because it gets shot off the board after one strike anyways? Do you take Bolters for more punch, or shotguns to allow you to advance and contribute a lot more to overwatch. Rhino dash seems like it could be a poor man's delivery in lieu of a Corvus. 13-18" move turn one and pop smoke, disembark from the front, then move and (possibly) advance again to get in autohit range with shotguns and FC.

That's exactly how I use my x3 Shotgun-Maul + x2 Shotgun-SS + x2 FC squad. Cheap, mobile, excellent overwatch, effective. Works great.

Certainly, I have found that the squads in the rhinos can die if enough firepower or melee threats are thrown at them, and they are a serious target for mortal wounds to bypass the storm shields I put in every unit, but all that being said....

The threat range that the units have is killer, if the dice are even close to average, I can tend to kill or cripple a major threat that they'd have to deal with.

If the squad was huffing it on foot, with the vanguard, they don't have the bodies to soak up large volume of fire, they're slower, and wouldn't accomplish the same degree of effectiveness. Also, I can get 3 rhinos for a single corvus, and that gives me board control, the ability to tie things up with an annoyance in the rhino, another unit or two for objectives. I've never lacked for the Corvus.

To go into a bit more detail:
My current list uses an MSU Fortis kill team.  Cheap, effective, and pretty hard to kill with those 10 wounds.
I run a Helblaster KT as well, and while i sometimes use beacon to bring it in with my deep strikes, quite often it ends up just moving up and killing things.  A 21" threat with that doubletap is nice, and i like to keep beacon as a late game option to reposition my forces when possible.

When i did monocodex, i ended up just running primaris for this role, usually MSU.  It's hard to beat 10 wounds, 10 shots of SIA bolt rifle for 100pts.  Hell, 9 of these and 6 HQ's(Watchmasters/JP TH/SS captains/JP libbys) would make an effective blueprint to build an army off of.  just replace/beef up 2-3 squads as you like and deep strike them.
It's hard to beat an army with 100+ T4 wounds, S4 -2 shooting at the very least, 2 attacks base per model, 18 CP.

I'm a fan of MSU intercessors.

I second this.

A camping stalker unit with 2 missiles and 2 intercessors on the board, plus or minus hellblasters in one of the intercessors. Gives me flexibility to beacon if I choose to bring it, gets some tough-ish bodies on the table and helps to buy some time while I maneuver.

Transports or deep strike for any specialty teams I bring in. I've also been experimenting with combat squading for annoying/fun play, but I would throw 5 vets in a transport with an HQ, and put 4 vets (storm shield) + a termie as bait. Maybe an apothecary for extra annoyance? The issue is you would still need to fill a battalion to get the CPs we desperately need. Combat squading doesn't fill a battalion but I suppose you could build smaller specialty teams and hide them in transports. The cost seems the same no matter how you do it.
