It'd be nice to see more experimental rules

So, I've been mulling over the rules side of things in regards to the Age of Darkness recently, and we've sort of hit a bit of a roadblock between major releases; we'll occasionally see a new model released with its rules available in PDF form, but... that's about it. We hardly, if ever, see anything else.

With that in mind, it'd be nice if they played around more with releasing experimental rules to see how the community interacts with them, even if that means releasing them without a relevant model; special characters, new units (Possessed for other Legions, please?) and so on. It'd be a low maintenance way of testing the content before a decision is made on whether or not to roll it out in future books or to ditch it/take it back to the table.

A 0-1 themed unit for the remaining 3 Legions without special units already would be nice. Something like Sanguinary Guard, Huntsmen, and Paladins for example. Even if they were just standard units (assault, bikers, veterans) with a unique rule or wargear option, that would hold us over for the next 1-2 years, and when the black books do come out, just expand upon those units by adding more upgrade options, removing the 0-1 restriction, and moving them out of the elites section.

They tend to be updated and collated into the next book that's out.

It's just the book schedule has slowed down a touch in the past 3 years!

Remember, FW like to include the rules in the books for fluff reasons is possible, so with things like Armuiger & Dominus Knights they are probably just writing fluff for it - though I doubt they'll be in Malevolence so we'll probably see a PDF until the next book.

Not necessarily, occasionally they will put rules into the books for stuff that isn’t the main focus of the book, take the secutarii and the ad mech stuff in inferno, sure mechanicum was on prospero, but they aren’t mentioned much at all in the book. So it is possible that the Armiger rules could be in malevolence

Yeah I meant to mention that as a caveat!

Doh!
