Knight Heavy Armies

I'm interested in getting started on Titanicus but I have a few things holding me back.

First, does anybody know where I can find a good summary of the rules? NOTE: I'm NOT asking for an illegal, pirated copy of the rules. If I play this game, I'll be buying them. I'm just looking for a summary so I can get a feel for how it goes down without spending a ton on something I might not enjoy.

Second, and most pertinent to my topic, is how knight heavy can I go? Say, can I take a warlord and make a knight household to support it? Can that be a complete army and, if so, can it be effective?

I understand that this is Titanicus and that the Titans are the heroes here, but I like knights and want quite a few (9 min.) in my force because I like knights and the idea of them chainsawing their way through a warlord's ankles amuses me.

Any feedback is appreciated.

You'll have to (in Matched Play) take at least 1 Maniple (formation/detachment) of Titans and then fill up on reinforcements. Going forward I'm sure GW will produce new formations and maybe even rules for whole Knight armies but right now it's limited.

The cheapest Maniple right now is the Venator which has 1 Reaver and 2 Warhounds as a minimum requirement. You can get away with a 1500-1750pts list with about 750pts of Titans and then throw the rest into Knights.

I don’t think a summary of the rules is available... There are a few battle reports in YouTube that you can browse and get the feel for the basic mechanics.

However I think the main appeal of the Adeptus Titanicus is the immersion you’ll feel trying to manage the various functions of your God Machines - especially under fire! The fact that there is a resource management element in the game and that there is a cinematic feel to them makes it a real winner in my book. Things like void shields, damage control, powering your various weapon systems, thinking about mobility, really put you in a position to make decisions on many levels. If you are looking for a detailed rule set instead of a “streamlined” one this is certainly a good choice.

The fact that the model-count is relatively low (although there is no stopping you to have huge Titan armies) adds to the feel and keeps everything very manageable. And the models are great too! And you can really play out some great narratives too!

Edit:

As Idaho said, the game rotates around Titan Maniples. You can choose the one you want and then add other units to support it - either other Titans or Knight Banners. I believe that in Open play mode you’ll be able to bring whatever you want on the table but whether it’ll be a competitive build that’s another story. Oh, and as Titans operate individually, the Knights come in Banners i.e. at least 3 of them in a unit.

Not experienced enough with the game to give you more colour I’m afraid but my gut feeling is that you’ll be missing out of the fun big time if you don’t have a Titan based force.

It appears that there will be tons of knights coming our way... :)

Natfka taking "insider info" thru BOLS... It's about as accurate as saying I read it in my alphabet soup. I wish it was reliable though.
