steamius
Hello! I had my home brew chapter for years, and since the start they always followed the Inquisitors orders. The main goal of my chapter is to hunt down any Corsairs, Pirates and etc. Since the idea of the chapter was for them to hunt down their prey, I decided to use the space wolves codex for them. But I never used Thunder wolves or Wolfen units. But now, looking at my collection, I want to revisit the idea, and introduce Assassins, Inquisitor and the Inquisitors body guard to my force. For the body guard I am thinking the start collecting Militarum Tempestus box set, as they look quite Inquisitorial. And as for assassins, I think the Culexus and the Eversor assassins. Would this units works as a Patrol Detachment for Space Wolves? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350179-patrol-inquisitor-detachment/ Share on other sites
MARK0SIAN
I’m afraid assassins don’t share the right keywords with inquisition so if you’re playing matched play they can’t be in the same detachment, which is a real shame and something I hope they fix. The whole way they’ve done inquisiton/assassins etc is a real mess at the moment now they’ve disallowed the Imperium keyword. You can still take inquisitors and assassins in the same army but they need to be in two separate detachments. If you’re not playing matched play though or you and your opponent agree on slightly relaxed rules around detachments then you could include them together. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for this though brother, it sounds like a really interesting idea for a force :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350179-patrol-inquisitor-detachment/#findComment-5163287 Share on other sites

Xisor
It's weird, Imperial Soup lists are doing exactly what they should, perhaps just a little too well. The problem, as I see it, is the ways of accessing things. E.g. Two BA jump hammer captains in a single battalion. Multiples of the same HQ 'leaderly' HQ unit should be disallowed in matched play. (And would make sense of the two-lieutenants-single-slot allowance. And the Drukhari three-patrols format.) Disallowing union by overarching keyword is foolish. It breaks the keyword concept at its core. Perhaps allowing only strategems/relics/warlord by uniting keyword? (As per AoS2 grand alliance/realm rules.) So whilst a BA/IG pair of batallions would work, their strategems/relics/warlord are derived from 'Imperium' rather than cherry picking from both <Chapter> and <Regiment>. ---- That said, visually and in terms of lore, an Inquisitor, some Scions-and-Commissar-as-acolytes and a pair of assassins, wouldn't work as a patrol detachment...when it could work even better as a vanguard detachment! (And net a +1command point)! Visually, though, it should totally work. And except for the matched play hassle of sorting out Imperium keyword for soups, it should work on the tabletop well too. Thanks! I heard about the dissalowing union thing... And it doesent make any sense to me...
