TiguriusX
You ignore vertical distance when charging That makes a turn 2 charge easy if someone is near terrain and you deep strike on the roof Source-Rule book FAQ Page 4 Q: When a unit that can Fly declares a charge move against a unit that is on the upper levels of a ruin, do I need to include the vertical distance when making the subsequent charge move for the unit? A: No. A unit that can Fly effectively ignores vertical distances when making a charge move. Note though that the charging unit must still be within 12" (measured directly ‘base-to-base’, i.e. diagonally) to be able to declare the charge in the first place (emphasis mine) Also...roof lines may block LOS and prevent overwatch Good hunting! Chaos Lord Tom
Do you mean that you measure the charging distance only on an horizontal plan ? Ie as if the charging unit was on the same level as rhe charge unit ? Ie as if the charging unit was on the same level as rhe charge unit ? that is literally what the current FAQ rules tell us (similar to reiver grapnels) enjoy it while it lasts Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350334-friendly-reminder-for-all-our-new-jump-lords/#findComment-5167275 Share on other sites
Stoic Raptor
Do you mean that you measure the charging distance only on an horizontal plan ? Ie as if the charging unit was on the same level as rhe charge unit ? The important consideration is "the charging unit must still be within 12" (measured directly ‘base-to-base’, i.e. diagonally)". So If you're 9" up on a building and your intended target is 8" from the base of the wall, you're not going to be able to declare a charge because he'll be just out of range. TiguriusX
Wolf lord pythagoras teaches us the hypotenuse of a triangle can be found using A squared plus B squared = C squared 9 up and 8 across 81 + 64 = 145 12 squared is 144 sqrt of 145 > 12 cant make a charge if target is beyond 12 the hypotenuse (straight line base to base) is over 12" so no charge permitted even though you need to roll an 8 only Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350334-friendly-reminder-for-all-our-new-jump-lords/#findComment-5167574 Share on other sites

Stoic Raptor
You don't even need to do the math, really... just place the tape measure on the edge of your base closest to the target and measure to the closest edge of its base... the tape will be your hypotenuse, so to speak. Knight of Lupus post was not clear to me. Misunderstanding due to English not being my native language for sure.
