How many armies does the average b&c frater have?

Just wondering how many armies people play here? I have an Ultramarines army and I’ve just finished up a deathwatch fortis kill team and fancy building a deathwatch army plus I do have a thing for the genestealer cults and want an army of them too.

One. Space Wolves.

That's definitely it.

And that's definitely enough for me to work on for the next few years.

*actively tries to deny his unassembled collection of a few Adeptus Mechanicus units, Kill Team Cassius, an Imperial Knight and a handful of civilian models he bought grom Third Party Sites*

Well... ATLEAST it's not as bad as my "I need something of everything and (almost) all named characters" LotR Collection I had before I started Wh40k, right?

...

...even though I have more Space Wolves stuff than even that. *coughs and drinks some mjod*

1. Blood Angels (Knights of Baal)

2. T'au Empire (Stealth&Recon themed ... currently switching between Sa'cea and Dal'yth Sept)

3. Slaanesh (barely since I'm mainly waiting for the EC release)

I'm tempted to eventually get some Orks (Speedkult mainly), Necrons and Tyranids but I'm actively stopping myself from doing so ... I really don't need more armies for 40k and I want to pick up one or two AoS armies eventually as well lol

40k:

Primary: Thousand sons about -about 15k+

Secondary: Necrons -15k+

the rest are about 1000-3000 pts each:

World eaters

Emperors Children

Blood ravens

Elysian drop troops

admech

deathwatch

daemons

traitor guard

iron hands

Imperial knights

Tzeentch knights

Tzeentch Titan legion: 5 hounds, 3 reavers, 1 emperor

Imperial titan legion: 2 warlords, 2 reavers, 2 hounds

30k:

15k+ of Thousand sons

8-10k of mechanicus

sigmar:

Disciples of Tzeentch

I guess this depends on whether you mean a "finished" playable army or armies sitting half finished or out of date..... lol.

I have a fully painted Ultramarines rmy - almost a full company.

I have a fully painted Macragge PDF (Astra Militarum) that was playable in 6th and 7th edition but not really in 8th.

I have a fully painted Cadian 8th army - see above. If I combine the Macragge PDF and Cadian 8th I can field a 2,000 pt playable army.

In terms of unfiished/unpainted I have 2,000pts of tau, 2,000pts of Drukhari, a small Blood Angels force, small Black Templars force, and boxes and boxes of stuf I haven't even opened yet.....

So effectively I have one completed army......

Two large (but kind of unfinished) armies of space marines and Necrons, looking to start a smaller space marine army to go along the DIY chapter, five guardsmen I picked up for a project a while back, which might be expanded.

I don’t see myself picking up another 40k army other than guard (though toss-up between custom and Valhallans), as I am pretty content with marines and crons. Maybe a heresy army, but that went out the door when FW jacked prices up.

I have 4 armies at the moment, tryimg to cut down to 2 or 3.

I have a large space wolf running up near 10k points, an iron hands armored force of about 3500 points, an admech force around 2300 points, and 3 imperial knights around 1400 points.

I am actively trying to sell off the admech force and may repaint the iron hands to Space wolves.

Interesting. In your situation I probably would let go of the Iron Hands since you already have another loyal Marine army and the other two offering more variety in your roster.

What's an average member of the B&C? :tongue.:

My main collections are, in no particular order:

Marines (DIY C:SM)

Guard (including Stormtroopers)

Chaos Marines (Slaanesh)

Daemons (Slaanesh)

Dark Eldar

Other armies that aren't as large are:

Thousand Sons

Imperial Knights

Inquisition

Sisters

Adeptus Mechanicus

This covers all my interests so I can't see myself ever expanding this. Unless GW releases some Tallarn but technically that just comes under "Guard", right? :whistling:

Good job you didn't ask how many completed armies people have :laugh.::wink:

Oh man, I used to have so many but I downsized to, well 'upscale' what I have.

Right now I have 5ish (depends how we count it).

Sons of Horus (~17K)

Blood Angels (~7K)

Skitarii/Legio Titanicus (~3K)

Emperor's Children (~3K)

Orks (~2K)

There used to be a lot more in there and I still have some unbuilt eldar kicking around with, like, 50 genestealer cults from Kill Team boxes.   But I'll be selling those off  as soon as I can.

Post Scriptum: "Hey Vykes, don't you have Emperor's Children?  Like, a full army?" "... ooooh yeah."

The 10k of wolves doesn't include any duplicates of what i have in iron hands. The iron hands force is 6 preds, 3 vindi's, a WW, LR redeemer, 2 razorbacks, rhinos, pods, techmarines, landspeeders, and TFCs. I had built a 7th edition armored task force.

Time to count as I don't actually know off the top of my head:

1. Blood Angels

2. Sisters of Battle

3. Inquisition

4. Death Watch

5. Space Wolves

6. Custodes

7. Knights

8. Eldar

The two "do these count as a separate?" armies:

9. Harlequins

10. Sisters of Silence

Lastly my new/fledgling armies:

11. Imperial Guard

12. Iron Warriors

... I had no idea I had that many :blink.:

I doubt I'm average, but...

Steel Legion (bought from a friend, painted as Krieg, from before they got FW models)

Cadians

Dark Angels (almost a full company of greenwing, with some RW and a lot of DW support)

Ultramarines

Sisters of Battle (none of it finecast or 3rd party)

Eldar (Alaitoc)

Dark Eldar

2 Necron armies (one bought from the same guy who did the Steel Legion)

World Eaters

Death Guard

A small Tau army (maybe 1k points, a bit more, and the smallest on this list)

And I'm painting some Primaris I wound up with as Lamenters (they'll be the foundation for a 1500 pts army).

If we include stuff I can do a bare-bones Patrol detachment for, there's also Harlequins and Custodes.

On top of that, I've got a growing IW army for 30k, and a small WE force for same, and naturally a Knight for those times when chivalry intensifies.

Depends on whether you mean painted, currently playable, out of date, still on sprue, etc. Only my VII Legion Imperial Fists are playable in HH. The rest were current somewhere between 2nd and 5th editions. Don't have any of my original Rogue Trader stuff and could kick myself for selling.

Of the painted and playable, but packed away, in 2nd- 5th edition, I have:

Dark Angels -- The whole freakin' chapter minus some damaged guys needing repair.

Grey Knights

Sisters of Battle

Cadian, Vostroyan, Catachan, Valhallan, and one more (?) IG.

Evil Sunz Orks (because red wunz go fasta!!!)

Painted and playable in Horus Heresy: VIIth Legion Imperial Fists, 4,500 points

Then there are boxes and bags and totes full of several army's worth of Mechanicum Ordo Reductor, Solar Auxilia, and Imperial Knights.

Looking at the above, I guess I should have gotten a life rather than sitting around painting. :(

Hard to define I suppose... I'm going to leave off small groups that are there for allies and such... To many armies is probably the right answer. I just kinda always wanted to capture the setting in a snapshot with my collection.

Black Templars (+ assorted other loyalists)

Blood angels

Dark angels

Imperial guard (cadian primarily)

Genestealer cult

Tyranids

Chaos space marines (iron warriors and word bearers)

Renegades and heretics (intended to mingle with the above 2 chaos marine factions)

Imperial/renegade knights (I have 2 to build and hope to score some extra outer armour pieces to magnetize and swap for loyal vs renegade)

Necrons (just a few hope to expand with forgebane and also start a small admech with it)

Orks

So 10ish depending on how you look at it? I tend to look at it as 3 tho. Imperials. Heretics, and the bugs... (the Necrons are really barely more than incidental at the moment.)

Hidden Content

Didn't specify game system, but 3 WFB armies as well, bretonnia, orcs, dwarfs.

Nothing from anything else tho...

Edit... Forgot orks. My bad.

I have;

  • 3000pts~ Primaris Ultramarine Successors
  • 3000pts~ Dark Angels Successors
  • 1500pts~ Raven Guard Successors
  • 1000pts~ Exorcists
  •   500pts~ Blood Angels Successors
  •   500pts~ Space Wolves
  • 1000pts~ Deathwatch
  • 1500pts~ Death Guard
  • 1000pts~ Nurgle Daemons
  • 1000pts~ Adeptus Mechanicus
  • 1200pts~ Drukhari
  • 1000pts~ Genestealer Cult
  •   750pts~ Tyranids
  •   500pts~ Ynnari

And then a few AoS armies (Stormcast, Nighthaunt, Elves etc)

I have 4: Necrons, Thousand Sons, Knights, and AdMech. Over the past ten years or so though I also had Blood Angels, vanilla marines, and small forces of Tyranids and Eldar. I will pick up new armies in the future, but not until I get more of what I have finished. If I can reliably field painted armies, I'll start looking at a new force.

I have at least a few models from every major faction in the game except dark eldar. They just never interested me. I tend to get whatever i fancy painting. Armies that i could probably field an army with today? Black Templars, Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Deathwatch, Catachans, Cadians, Nids, Orks, Necrons, Ulthwé, Sam Hain, Grey Knights, Imperial Knights, Custodes and maybe some white scars, sisters or vior'la tau (but only like 500pts). Tempestus scions is where i'm looking next i think, though once i've finished painting ruststalkers i have on my desk. Also i have literally no idea what i have unbuilt or boxed. I have quite alot of stuff from car boot sales and the like that is probably mostly junk.

Actual playable armies? 2: Sisters of Battle and Primaris Imperial Fists. I also have a now mostly illegal CSM Death Guard army (due to some lost options being modeled on things, like Defilers with all CCW arms) and bits and bobs of other stuff I wanted to try building and painting but ultimately didn't latch onto doing en masse like everything else. I've had other armies but losing things in a move or selling stuff to newer players at a discount to fund my Sisters army helped me thin those down.

Unpainted: Orks, dark Eldar, Invaders Chapter

Mini detachments: Harlequins (unpainted), Legion of the Damned, Fallen Angels, Deathwatch, Grey Knights, Sisters of Battle

Painted armies: Genestealer Cult, Black Templars, Tyranids (Behemoth), Blood Angels (a battle company + some death company and terminators), Death Guard, Black Legion, Valhallans,

Warhammer Fantasy: The Empire, Tomb Kings (unfinished), Orcs and Goblins (the Goblins are unfinished), Beastmen, Skaven (Skyre + some Pestilence), Vampire Counts (Lamia and Blood Dragons),

Some aborted Warmachine projects.
