I couldn't put my finger on why that Lord of Skulls looked different. The dozer blade on the front is missing, it actually makes the model look a little more agile and threatening in my opinion. The stock one looks like it just trundles along crushing everything in it's path, this one looks like it's coming right for you.

Painted a Tyrant and am pretty happy with it - feel like a did a good job converting a purely imperial model into a chaos one largely with spare bits I already had (though, I did have to buy the chain, but it was easy to find and not expensive).

And finally, from infantry eye view:

@Dr_Ruminahui, excellent job. You did a great job with chaosifying the Knight. I also like the paint scheme very much and the highlights are pretty distinct. The photos don't do your work justice, but I think I know how more awesome the model looks in person. Also, does the Titan drag a dead Terminator chained to his ankle? :D A nice touch, though a bit macabre.

I have finally finished a new demi-Lance for my House Terryn army. Given that this was the apocalypse box set that came out in 2019, this has been on the workbench for an embarrassingly long period of time. Still, I think they were worth the wait. The Dominus has been magnetised so I can also run it as a Valiant if I so wish.

Kharhedron, very nice Castellan and Helvarins - that was the very same kit I bought for the Tyrant just above your post - my helverin/wardog kit bashes are still in my painting queue, though.  Didn't bother magnetizing the arm guns on Tyrant, though, as I don't have the valiant weapons and am unlikely to unless I buy a whole kit at some point.

I'm guessing you used cantor blue for the dark blue - what did you highlight it with?

Thanks, Brother Christopher - though I'm sorry to say the photos are pretty accurate, other than the purple actually being a bit more vibrant in person (and the purple on the shield more even). :)  I hadn't actually intended for the terminator to be attached to the chain - rather, they came together as 2 distinct ideas/elements that just happened to be next to each other on the base - I wanted the chain to trail behind the ankle, and the terminator to look like it had been stepped on, both of which required them to be close together.  Now that you have suggested it, I wish I had gone with your idea, though if I had I would have positioned the terminator differently.  As for macabre, no more so than the vultures picking at the corpses staked to its left pauldron.

Yes, the Apocalypse box was too good value to pass up. I got the extra guns on eBay.

You are right, a base coat of Kantor blue, shaded with slightly thinned Nuln Oil. I highlighted with Altdorf blue and then Fenrisian Grey.  The red is Mephiston red, shaded with Agrax Earthshade and then highlighted with Troll Slayer Orange.

From my experience, photos always exaggerate even the slightest mistakes with highlights - things that are not visible to the naked eye and that's why I always assume that models look better 'in person.'

Haha, It's a silly idea, though.

Corpses, vultures and gore are thing's I've grown acquainted to with Chaos. Somehow the prospect of that dead (?) Terminator dragged by the war machine felt more unsettling.

@Karhedron - Congratulations on completion of these models, too. Amazing stuff. You guys finishing these titans make me want to get and paint one too.

Titanicus instead of 40k scale, but here we go. It's close to a Knight size hunk of plastic anyway :D

COR AUT MORS!

Excidium Ultimum, the Ultimate Ruin, Warmaster of the Ashen Gods, marches to war engines and weapons blazing. Pretty happy with the freehanded checkers, lines and banners, hadn't done those for a long time.

She's escorted by the XIV legion, who are certainly not the bigger people in this relationship.

Some close-ups on the legs. I'm satisfied with those checkers and especially with the knee-joint NMM.

The Grav Imploder is running pretty hot.

Freehanding banners was something I haven't really done, though not that different from regular acrylic painting I did a lot of as a teenager. It was fun... and thus something I'll probably have to do more of in the future, oh dear.

Naturally there are people about on machines of this size. You can spot one in the armpit and another loading the mortars on the shoulders.

Since legio Favilla is my pretentious art project, I also tested using a 0.1 mm pen to put some latin phrases in as appropriate (works, but reaaally didn't like ti stay put when the varnish was applied. Whoops).
- On her front armour the scrolls read "Solvet saeclum in favilla / Heaven and Earth in ashes ending", part of Dies Irae that inspired the legio's name in the first place.
- The skull pile banner reads "Mors certa / Death is inevitable".
- The bleeding heart has the battle cry "Cor aut mors / Heart or death", an ultimatum to submit and obey or die. Your money or your life, but cooler.
- The burning planet with a sword in it reads "Mors tua, vita mea / Your death, my life" in reference to the legio's purpose as an ultima ratio formation that is only sent to the fray when diplomacy breaks down so badly that the opposing side needs to be erased from the galactic memory in its entirety. By the death of their enemies, Mankind asserts its perceived manifest destiny to rule the stars.
