Rolltonotdie
It looks awesome man - great striping work! Any plans going forward? Thank you, with the announcement of the new kit with a sunfury and power claw next on the table will be the Warlord Metalica Primus the lead engine of the 73rd Expedition's battlegroup and ultimately a second Maniple. I've also got some knights in the works. Rolltonotdie
New Warlord and some Lancers are on order so will be making an appearance over the next few weeks. Â I've also been working on some Epic30k stuff (Namely Praetorian Guard and some Fellblades and Glaives) but I'm not sure if it would be appropriate to post them in this thread or to start a new one in the workshop. Rolltonotdie
I'd love to see the Praetorian Guard in this scale  Ask and you shall receive!  I've not quite got my head round photographing 6mm infantry, maybe I need to switch back to my actual camera and its macro settings as opposed to my (admittedly decent) phone camera. These are the first 4 bases of what will be an 8 base Infantry Company, the models are from Baccus 6mm and aren't actually Imperial Guard, they are actually 6mm British Colonial troops with their long rifles cut down to more closely resemble lasguns. They haven't got an extensive range of different troops so I think some creative greenstuffing will be in order to make Grenadiers/Stormtroopers. I also managed to snag some Stormblades off eBay so the Praetorian's have the first of their armoured support.  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063107_zps2plm7c2i.jpg  208th Praetorian Infantry Hailing from the Hive World of Praetoria the 208th were latecomers to the 73rd Expedition fleet, having been raised following the compliance of Dreska. The 73rd had lost almost the entirety of the 16th Michorian Samites during the compliance of the renegade humans and subsequent running space battles with nearby Orkoid forces which had been drawn towards the growing conflict.  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063121_zpsjruvywla.jpg  The Praetorians were considered 'green' troops upon joining the expedition, have been recent formed and, as such, untested in the field. Despite their untested status the Praetorians proved effective in the field, being deployed first against the Eldar during the purge of Jorn III alongside fellow Milita regiments of the 603rd Mødherne Brotherhood and the 9th Sumian Mamelukes and then again working directly alongside Legion elements of the IX and XII Legions during the Neverlight Compliance.  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063147_zpsu2yzakfe.jpg  Being a recently founded company the 208th joined the expedition fleet with their full compliment of armoured fighting vehicles. Standard battle tanks, such as the Leman Russ were in abundance as well as larger super heavy tanks such as the Stormblade.  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063216_zpsxkqdct1j.jpg  A relatively recent addition to the Armouries of the Imperial Militia the Stormblade was a tank of known provenance, having served for the early decades of the Great Crusade in the armouries of the Legiones Astartes. However, with the discovery of STC data allowing for the creation of the Fellblade, Glaive and Falchion super heavy tanks the Stormblade found itself increasingly sidelined in favour of the more advanced tank designs.  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063242_zpsc2dwnf9a.jpg  As the crusade wore on these mothballed units found themselves being recommissioned into the rapidly expanding regiments of the Imperialis Mitia, or Imperial Army. Finding a new purpose amongst the human soldiery the Stormblade ground its way across the battlefields of the galaxy unleashing the fury of its Plasma Blastgun upon the enemies of humanity once more.   Legion Armour  As tanks such as the Stormblade fell out of favour with the Legions armoured behemoths such as the Legion Glaive were gaining a reputation as main line tanks within the Legions. Detachments such as the above, attached the the VI Grand Battalion, III Tagma of the IV Legion could be found on myriads of battlefields across the galaxy.  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063428_zpsm2aankzi.jpg  Primarily deployed against infantry heavy positions the Glaive's Volkite Carronade was capable of reducing massed infantry to smoking ruin in moments and was even effective against light vehicles. The 73rd had an expansive armoury of Volkite weaponry going into the Neverlight compliance and then into the Mycenae campaign, effective as they were against the massed infantry assaults and ramshackle vehicles  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063444_zpsvayc746a.jpg  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063500_zpstb4ace3b.jpg  When they came under attack from, what the considered, renegade elements of the XII and XVII Legions they were forced to turn the deadly Volkite weapons on their erstwhile brethren. The Carronades of the Glaive's proved particularly useful at scything through the packed ranks of degenerate cultists thrown before any assault by the Word Bearers.  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063528_zpswfapfjnz.jpg  Land Raiders and Rhinos were commonplace on the battlefields of the Great Crusade, so much so that their use extended beyond the Legions to the Imperial Army, or at least, those regiments capable of manufacturing their own.  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063549_zpsah1hiyel.jpg  WIP Stuff I've got quite a bit on the painting bench at the moment, including a pair of Mastodons, a Trio of Fellblades and a squadron of Leman Russ tanks. But here's some shots of the next 4 bases of the Praetorians and a tiny Primarch. Plus my next Warlord and Knights should arrive on Saturday.  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063728_zps1p5nkifn.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063630_zps3oavkeom.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181128_063646_zpsb4vlhp0v.jpg  I'll be busy this weekend... Rolltonotdie
Well I didn't get much chance to work on anything at weekend, life demanded I stop playing with toy soldiers. But I did get a bit of time before work this morning and have managed to get most of the superstructure for the next Warlord underway.  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181204_072245_zpscvxlncus.jpg  This will be lead engine of the battle group, Metalica Primis, armed with a Sunfury Plasma Annihilator, Arioch Power Claw and carapace mounted Laser Blasters. Fluff to follow once she's got some paint on her.  Also, has anyone else seen these from Versatile Terrain ? I've picked up some for each of my already painted engines and for Metalica Primis here. Since I plan on having a total of 35 engines eventually, some will obviously end up with duplicate loadouts so this seems a good way to differentiate them. I've not finished the name list yet but as it stands they are:  Warlords Metalica Primis (Lead Engine) Ultima Ictum Tonitrua Metus Mors Incarnadine Custodire Faex Iron Splendour Invictum Rex Reavers(and Warbrigners if they come to AT) Mors Tempestae Hastati Lux Victorious Endeavour Vide Domine Hammer of Metalica Cataclysmos Pyroclastia Aurora Quinto Custodi Ferrum Necesse Malum Thunder Child Warhounds Lupus Sanguine Sabreclaw Steel Wolf Borophagus Aelurodon Epicyon Venator Atrox I've got names to come up with for 3 more Reavers and 7 more Warhounds. I've also been naming the enemy engines they will be taking on, and I may eventually build a second battlegroup of these.  Legio Surturvora (Fire Masters)  Warlords Corde Incendia Deus Ruptor Terminus Ultimo Reavers Tenebris Mente Ignis Natus Incendium Rex Warhounds Ash WalkerI'll be filling Surturvora out to 25 engines and will also be adding 7 engines from Legio Audax(Ember Wolves). Captain Semper
So wait a minute, are you saying that you’ll do 35 Titans for Metallica and 25 for Suturvora and 7 for Audax? :O  *drops dead*  The tags look fun, I will get a closer look and maybe get some...  P.S. Rolltonotdie
Work has been slow this last week, I've not had nearly as much free time as I would have liked, and got myself quite distracted, however, I did get a good start on the base for Metalica Primus:  http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181223_175554_zpsvsyaykww.jpg  In the shadow of the God Engine a lone IV Legion Breacher Sergeant faces off against a Rampager of the XII unaware of the danger lumbering towards him.  So, distracted eh? by what one wonders. Well, I have finished my first infantry formation for the IV Legion, 8 bases of Legion Breachers! [http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181223_175543_zpswimigqim.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181223_175600_zpsf2tsquha.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181223_175610_zpskkqoqs5e.jpg I've also started work on a Legion Stormbird! http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b208/XSE_bishop/20181223_175550_zpsiisa5bue.jpg  I did make a solid start on the Warlords armour plates thought, they've got their base red and whites on and are awaiting their wash of Chestnut ink when I get back home on Boxing Day. Captain Semper
That Warlord looks extremely promising - love the work you did on the ankle armour! Have you dry-fitted the leg armour plate to make sure you'll have no unpleasant surprises?  The base also looks amazing. I will not ask about the little tanks but I will ask about the red: is it Mephiston or something more exotic? It looks bloody good! (hideous pun intended)  As a mater of fact I haven't, I'm trusting to a dose of good fortune on that front. I'm sure it will be fine but I will keep you posted.  Yes, the tanks and infantry are a little nudge nudge wink wink but I will say are easily found on eBay for those interested.  Yes, at this stage the red is just a few thin layers of Mephiston Red over a basecoat of Tamiya Light Gunmetal, it will get a wash of Chestnut Ink for shade and then a stippled drybrush of Red Gore/Scab Red to lighten the middle of the panels.
