Berzerker conversions

I wanted to convert some berzerkers since the current sculpts are pretty outdated. I bought enough Sigmar blood warrior arms and berzerker heads to put 20 berzerkers together. I slapped them on a Betrayal at Calth marine to see how they would look:

Honestly I’m not really happy with them. I think I may have to slap them into a primaris body for better proportions. I do think the berzerker heads match the size of the blood warrior arms fine, and I don’t mind the torso too much but the legs just look off to me.

Any thoughts?

Edit: on a second viewing it looks to me like the legs just are not long enough. The total leg length is shorter than the chest and abdomen. I’ll try with primaris legs.

I agree with the mk4 legs there, they don't look long enough when compared to the torso/head part but the primaris legs don't look very "chaos-y" imho.

Do you have a Mk3 set? Those legs would maybe do the trick, I think they are a bit larger than the Mk4 legs (and posed in a better way).

That Primaris marine gets my vote. With some converting I think that would be spot on.

I am biased as I've gotten bit by the bigger marine bug. I copied Betrayer41 and used AoS bloodwarrior bodies and worked on them to make them into berzerkers (in my Black Legion thread). They are bigger than a basic marine, a bit smaller than a primaris, and on par with the recent TS and DG.

I know Insane Psychopath did some cool conversions with regular mark armor and using bloodreaver bits so I would say check that out if you want to go with the mk4 armor. I honestly think his look fantastic. If you do go the route of the basic marine bodies and want to lengthen the legs I would say check out Brother Heinrich's Night Lords and his Blood Angels. Before copying betrayer41 I was very much considering copying Brother Heinrich's Blood Angels as he add height to his marines and terminators perfectly.

This is Timothy the test Berzerker. I used an old amazon gift card to cut shims. I thought it would be an easy source of plastic if a known size. I didn’t realize they will delaminate after being glued, so I probably won’t use these again.

I put two shims under the torso, and one shim between the arm/shoulders and one between the knee/lower leg. I’ve also repositioned a foot.

Assuming this works out I will trim the shims and fill gaps with milliput.

Next to the primaris Berzerker he is about the same size but not as tall due to his hunched over posture.

Good job, the latest guy looks better proportion-wise. I think part of the problem might be the clunky berserker helms, you could go the biohazard route and slice the face part off and replace it with the front of of another space marine helmet. It's a bit fiddly but the end result is worth it!

Personally, I prefer the plain old out-of-the-box Berzerker look*; I don't know if it's just that my eyes have grown accustomed to it, but the proportions for the conversions there (the first two anyway) really seem wonky to me. Perhaps it's the lack of the classic power armor pauldrons that's causing it? Space marines of all stripes just don't look the same to me without them.

*Though my Berzerkers are actually slightly modified, with CSM arms/weapons and Space Wolves backpacks to draw them into their traitor Space Wolves theme.

I got half of an age of sigmar starter and turned the khorgoroth into a daemon prince, the blood reavers into cultists and the blood warriors into bezerkers.
