Here is what I'm thinking. Going to use the Iron Warriors decals for the left shoulder. I like transfers more than the 3d popped out view on the shoulders. But there are also a lot of decent Iron Warriors bits I can scavenge. I'm not entirely set on the red for the weapons but it will tie into the lens color pretty decently so I might keep the weapons red and go with a reddish glow for the power sword as well if I can pull it off. Plasma will be blue for sure, as I really like that white-blue plasma look. Gonna hunt down some of those Iron Warriors limited edition dice for the army as well if I can. The dice look amazing!

I am currently thinking about putting the Company Number in the lower right bottom of the right shoulder pad and the squad marking on the right knee pad.

Base (Leadbelcher Spray)

Paint red on the weapons and Purity Seals

Paint Stormhost Silver on the Chest Icon

Paint cloth color on any paper & cloth

Wash with Nuln Oil

Repaint the red and edge highlight the armor with leadbelcher, weapons with blood red, chest icon with stormhost silver and paint lens with blood red

Paint white head stripe on Sgts and White with red stripe in side the red stripe for Lieutenants, and White with Red and Gold for Captains I am thinking...

I've see one other person do something that looks similar....

Paul Norton's Iron Ravens:

I plan on using only Primaris and vehicles for this army initially but might branch out at a later date.

Picture of the dice I'm trying to find/purchase:

The colour-scheme is interesting.

Now, my question is this: You said you'll be highlighting before washing. Is that to make the highlights not as bright before you go and do them again, or is there another reason?

Yeah I want them a bit dark. I'll have a sample and post it up here over the weekend.

You may be better than me, however wanted to just say my experience. When I tried this with my DG, the highlight was almost indistinguishable from that of the base color. Now my DG are drenched in earthshade to give them that really filthy look. Maybe a lighter wash will show more.

Yeah I might need to do highlights after the Nuln Oil covering. I just don't want it too bright.

As long as you make the highlights extreme before washing they'll work out.

I use cold grey as the highlight on my Templars and then wash it down until it blends, makes for a nice effect.

If you're going for dark metal base colour using gw paints I'd recommend mixing black with leadbelcher for the base colour and highlighting it with stormhost or runefang before giving it a couple of costs of nuln, watch out for pooling and keep applying nuln till you're happy with the colour.

As an extra step you could add a coat of nuln gloss in order to bring back a metallic sheen.

Not sure if you're aware, but besides the single shoulder pad, you're pretty much describing the Silver Skulls scheme,

Not trying to discourage you, just pointing it out in case you weren't aware

I just went through designing my own scheme for a custom chapter and had the same problem. 40k has been around for so long that if you can think of a color scheme somebody else has already done it.

OP are these loyalist or Chaos? I didn't see that in your post.
