Guest uk_crow
Fellow Barons, how do you go about transporting your knights? I have almost completed my 2000 point list made up of 4 knights and just purchased a KR multicase to move them about in, the problem is because I haven't used standard poses they don't fit in the case. I've glued my arms on so i cannot remove them now... So the question is, how do you move yours about safely? I'm considering making a magnet tray case out of a deep toolbox (see below)https://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-tstak-vi-deep-storage-unit/1254f#product_additional_details_container lining the base with sheet steel and then attaching 4 of these magnets to the bases of each knight: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neodymium-Diameter-POWER-MAGNET-STORE/dp/B017L0DEJ0?th=1 Thoughts? Guest uk_crow
I had a look at those and the tallest tray they do is too low if the knights have carapace weapons unfortunately... Technically the 4' trays will fit a knight if you have not glued the hip joint together and magged the carapace weapons. If you did then transporting the knights becomes much harder. Those trays are how i transport mine, as a side note the 4' trays also fit 3 armigar as long as you have not glued the carapace weapon on. Fixing the carapace weapons to be magged is not hard. I'll get the size I use because they fit right into the hole where the weapons go into to. And if you keep your polarities straight you'll be able to swap the weapons with ease. This also applies to the Dominus classes as well. CommodusXIII
I wrap mine in tissue paper, like Christmas ornaments, and stuff them in a cardboard banker's box. Three years of driving around to different events and not a single broken piece. Shinespider
I'm going to second Commodus. When transporting models, the main fear for me is small antennae and othersuch tiny bits snapping off. Knights are big, burly models without any delicate parts sticking out. The only really breakable thing is the dangling crotch banner, but that bit's location between the legs makes it unlikely that another knight would press into it. If you have four Knights standing upright in a box, a minimal amount of buffer between them (paper, bubble wrap, whatever) will do you just fine. Guest uk_crow
These are great suggestions, I spent an hour in a hardware store this weekend looking at boxes Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350828-best-way-transport-a-lance-of-4-knights/#findComment-5180887 Share on other sites
Vel'Cona
What are people’s experiences with the GW crusader case? Someone I have spoken to says they move 4 knights in theirs but I’m slightly skeptical... I'm not sure about the GW cases personally, but I have a friend that swears by them. I think transporting unmagnetized Knights will always be a challenge, though for my purposes I use a $8 plastic movable filing box for my single completed Knight, with a small inset of shipping foam. Tyriks
I have a crusade case and I hate it. It's fine for infantry but vehicles and stuff are not ideal fits. All my onagers lost antennae from it and Knights may not fit at all if it's not in pieces. frosteldar
Otherwise, using some soft foam from a craft store and a plastic tub/crate should work well. Just put the foam around the inside of the box and between knights.
