Ratherdashing
I have seen jump pack bits sold separately online and I was wondering. Can these be slotted over regular PA backpacks or do you have to modify the pack significantly? I was hoping to magnetize the jump pack on so my characters can be swapped to go on foot or in the air. Right now I see no reason to take any PA characters on foot but that may not always be the case so I'd like to keep my options open. I'd rather have jump pack models actually look like they are flying or landing, but I'm also fairly attached to my characters as they are and don't want to replace them. But while my army is far from optimized, the jump pack seems too important to overlook, at least for a Wolf Priest accompanying outflanking Wulfen (better to spend a few points than a CP just to bring him along). Long post for a short question: do jump packs fit overtop standard backpacks? And from a modeling and rules standpoint, what do you all think of adding jump packs to our leaders? Kallas
Can these be slotted over regular PA backpacks or do you have to modify the pack significantly? Slotted over? No. Basically, both the regular power pack and the jump pack are attached to the torse by a nub/socket. Both use the same nub/socket, and jump packs are entirely separate pieces that replace the whole regular power pack. I was hoping to magnetize the jump pack on so my characters can be swapped to go on foot or in the air. You absolutely can magnetise both packs: the simplest solution is to put the magnets into drilled holes above the pack-side socket/torso-side nub. from a modeling and rules standpoint, what do you all think of adding jump packs to our leaders? Rules: yes, absolutely. They can quickly up the cost of the characters, if you're bringing several, but the increase in mobility is night and day. I heartily recommend Jump Packs on pretty much any character that can take them. Wolf Lords, WG Battle Leaders, Rune Priests, Wolf Priests: they all benefit from the mobility greatly, as it lets them get to where they need to be (for killing and/or buffing) with minimal interference, and double the speed. thymidine
Movement is, arguably, the most important stat in 40k. I take jump packs on pretty much anything that can take them.
