Glute
So if you have a Inf Squad with 9 Lasguns + 1 Laspistol and have the Armageddon doctrine. 1. How many Rapid Fire shots do you get within 18"? 2. For the same squad if you issue order FRSF how many shots within 18"? duz_
Pistol doesnt benefit from the rule as its not Rapid Fire So to your questions 1. 18 (+ 1 if within 12" for the pistol) 2. 36 (+ 1 if within 12" for the pistol) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350857-armageddon-doctrine-quesion/#findComment-5180577 Share on other sites
Harrowmaster
Duz has this one, but it might be easier to remember that you get rapid fire at 18" and then working out FRFSRF bonuses after rather than memorising numbers cause if you take a plasma gun (if you should) and when guardsmen start dying (which they will) your no of lasgun shots will change. Glute
Pistol doesnt benefit from the rule as its not Rapid Fire So to your questions 1. 18 (+ 1 if within 12" for the pistol) 2. 36 (+ 1 if within 12" for the pistol) Here is where I'm confused: Armageddon says you get double the amount of attacks they make with Rapid Fire up to 18" So doesn't that mean a single Lasgun with Rapid Fire 1 gets normally 2 shots within 18" and double that would be 4 shots? (And ignoring pistol for this example). Then if you add FRSF you would get Rapid Fire 2 so wouldn't it be 4 shots within 18" x 2 (double) = 8 shots per Lasgun? Still confused... duz_
The rapid fire rule lets weapons double the number of attacks on their profile at half range The Armageddon rule simply allows you to double at 18" as opposed to 12" So no you dont get to double the double Although that would make the SL:RD much more useful :D Maybe you should email the GW FAQ team to amend that :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350857-armageddon-doctrine-quesion/#findComment-5180592 Share on other sites

I agree with your comments and they are probably what GW meant for Armageddon Doctrine. What I can't understand is GW's inability to clarify a rule that should probably state: "Rapid Fire distance is increased by 6" up to a maximum of 18"...." Harrowmaster
Here's a verbatim quote from the dex: "Infantry units with this doctrine may double the number of attacks they make with Rapid Fire weapons at a range of 18", rather than half the weapon's range as normal." If you don't read the part after the comma, or skim over it , the rule does look confusing, but it does just have the effect of extending rapid fire range.
