Kasper_Hawser
Ah now it makes sense, it means the ..... sorry, I shouldn't hate or insult Tau players, I hate the army but not the players. So the mission was the kind where he couldn't happily camp and force you to come to him. Thank you for putting the context in, either way it sounds like you deserve the win. Well done. Come to think of it, I've yet to engage Tau in such missions, or even ITC format which doesn't encourage static formations. The times I got my butt handed to me was when they camped like a wimp without me able to cross the battlefield fast enough. That or Flying commander spam killed me back when it was still allowed, leaving me a very sour taste in my mouth. It's a pity the only time I enjoyed playing against Tau was when the other side actually used Firewarriors and Hammerheads, which is not their optimised units. Sad i can only beat them when they are purposely avoiding the best units of their codex, which is normally the Riptide and crisis suit bomb. The guys I play with, we almost exclusively use Maelstrom missions or narrative ones with some extra flavour. This helps stop some of the awful situations you can get -as you have described. It rewards a bit more thinking and I think makes it flow a bit more. I have been on the other side of it, and delivered, some of the more 'car-park' style games and my group decided that they just weren't as fun for all involved. Hahaha I'm laughing with you not at you brother You sound like me when I talk about eldar players. I freaking hate eldar with a passion. Their codex is all kinds of broken and unbalanced BS I hate them so much I have adapted to always bring my eldar insurance detachment when I attend tournaments (1 culexus and 2 vindicares) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350865-returning-to-the-fang/page/2/#findComment-5183686 Share on other sites
Cordova
I can't be dealing with Eldar, I actually hate them. I seem to have hit a positive vein of creativity - I can't paint anything at the moment for various reasons (not being near my paints is perhaps foremost among them) but I can write a bit - keep the juices going. I have, in my head, a vision for these Wolves (hence the small points total), as I want it to be a force I can build, but one that makes sense to me. In my mind, they are the remnants of forces that fought at Cadia. Wolves who have come together to fulfil oaths they made but could not complete there. They are the outcasts, as it were.... --- He had taken on the honorific of Thane. He had refused Jarl, and he refused to acknowledge the death of Bloodhowl; he was simply missing, carving up the foes of the Fang, of that Halsand was sure. The Vlka that had followed him had all lost something at Cadia. They had all been offered to join other Great Companies, or follow the new Jarls that had been appointed but this would not have sated their honour. Great debts were still to be paid and this band would see them paid in full. Halsand had petitioned Grimnar himself, and won him round to see his point of view. As part of disparate packs, they would be diluted – as one unit, they could be something more. They could be the bloodied maw of Fenris, the deliverers of a violent truth that harkened back to a darker time. Halsand watched as the collected soldiers before him repainted helms and covered their old pack markings with black – the colour of Morkai. He watched as Wolf Priest Brudugr blessed their armour and scratched new pack markings into the still-wet tar paint. He watched as Rune Priest Kunnigr passed through the hall, marking runes of protection, revenge and fury on armour plates. He watched, breath steady and measured, as the mountainous Thunderwolf Geisa padded – impossibly quietly – through the hall, following Hersir Feigr as he greeted brothers that sat, huddled around the fires of the hall. His hand brushed the talisman at his waist; he imagined the outline of the Fire Breather burning his skin as he passed over it. His lip curled, involuntarily, into a snarl as he picked up his own helm and began to paint it with the thick, pungent paint. ----- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/350865-returning-to-the-fang/page/2/#findComment-5183726 Share on other sites
Kasper_Hawser
Hahaha I'm laughing with you not at you brother You sound like me when I talk about eldar players. I freaking hate eldar with a passion. Their codex is all kinds of broken and unbalanced BS I hate them so much I have adapted to always bring my eldar insurance detachment when I attend tournaments (1 culexus and 2 vindicares) Sadly for me, the list has grown. In order of the one I hate the most: 1) Any army with a Castellan (the shooty knight) 2) Tau 3) CSM 4) Tzeetch Daemon heavy lists 5) Raven Guard Space Marine (although I understand Strike from Shadows has changed) 6) Eldar (still manageable for me, although my opponent is kind enough not to go crazy like reaper spam or Wraithguard spam or Wraithknight I still try not to hate the army, after all this is a game, but seriously, there is something when fighting the above that just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. If I'm not careful, I end up hating the player who plays the army and end up a self righteous wolf. I don't know, maybe in the end, the Wolf Codex remains a balanced codex but without any of the cheese that makes us hate the other armies, whether it is Captain Smash from Bloodangels, Near unkillable Captains from Space Marine codex with shield eternal, or Eldar Ulthwé mass psyker and surprisingly tough pointy ears, or damn CSM who only spam cultists and Obliterators. Sorry, this is OOP. allow me to blow steam a bit. Anyway, Cordova's list looks extremely solid I might try it as well. Just have to finish my Harald Deathwolf, which I painted HIM but not his overgrown mutt due to my dislike both of TWC in general as well as painting fur. As Scout bikers is a web only thingie now, I think I'll try use Wolf Guard JP with storm bolters instead. well done again Cordova. Please give us more news of your battles, if not full bat reps, at least condensed battles to show us the Wolf Codex can roll with the best of them, just not the broken ones.
