Good novels for lesser known chapters

Hello,

I have recently gotten back into reading BL, and I started out by reading MacNiven's Carcharodon novels. Back when I first started reading I really liked the Soul Drinkers series, which also covered a more background chapter of Astartes. I am wondering what other good novels are out there for lesser known chapters. I'm thinking about the Death of Antagonis, any others to look at?

Legion of the Damned by Rob Sanders is a very good one for a close up view of the Excoriators, basically developed them from scratch.

The novella Blood and Fire by ADB covers the Celestial Lions, who previously were just a brief reference in the coverage of the third war for Armageddeon. It's a sequel to Helsreach though, as well as often being packaged with it, and should probably be read afterwards.

Dan Abnett's Brothers of the Snake, about his own Iron Snakes chapter, though they pop up in some other Sabbat Worlds books. The deliberately ancient epic/superheroic style of some parts of it weren't to my taste but were an interesting choice.

Paul Kearney's Dark Hunters: Umbra Sumus is supposed to be pretty good, though I haven't read it. His Dark Hunters short stories were fine though.

"Legion of the Damned" is an enduring favourite of mine.

It covers a lot of great detail, allowing a glance at a few big things in the 40k universe, but from the Z-list end of the Space Marine Chapters.

Sarah's Silver Skulls stuff are very grand stories too.

Do rare Chaos Space Marine warbands count? If so I've also got a short story out about the Angels of Ecstacy. On Goodreads it's actually the highest-rated of any of my works, which still surprises me.

For what it's worth, I think it's justified. I at least loved it. It was absolutely chilling and pretty unique in BL's range!

Umbra Sumus has unfortunately been out of print due to copyright issues relating to other Dark Hunter IPs...there was a short while when you could get it, but you had to be quick. I thought it was good - IMO Kearney writes some of the better intro-style novels for 40k. If you have someone who's interested in sci-fi/fantasy and taking a look at 40k, hand them any of his works, including Calgar's Siege/Fury, and you'll be good.

The Death of Integrity by Guy Haley features both the Novamarines and Blood Drinkers. It's a good one. Goes into a little bit of the background of both chapters.

Was pretty awesome, one of the better SMB novels to come out.

Dang, somehow I thought that had been resolved and it was for sale again. Poor Paul Kearney, chap has no luck with publishers.

Brotherhood of the Snake by Dan Abnett gets my vote:thumbsup: The Iron Snakes is a ?th Founding chapter using gene stock from those fun-loving Ultramarines. Strong Classical Greek themes and non-codex compliant to boot make for interesting background. It's fast paced with some very memorable characters. Even though it's  obviously edited together from a series of old Inferno! short stories, it's some of Mr. Abnett's best scribblings:yes:

Thanks for all the recomendations! I've added pretty much everything to my list

I will definitely check it out, both because minor CSM warbands are an interesting topic and you won me over with the Carcharodon books.
