Hey all, I'm posting this in between shots at work, so this first post will be a bit patchy.

I've been working on a cybernetica/Mechanicum list off and on for a year or so, the cybernetica part is almost done so I thought I'd start a blog to keep me motivated to finish it.

Ive got Blood and Glory this weekend so the army has to be "done" for that ( I think I'll be painting on the train up there at this rate...). Then I've got the Spaartanax campaign day in December, which required a 300 word story to explain why your leader turned up there, so...

“This attack on our faith is intolerable, it has cut our faith to the core” Minh Koh spoke, one of the gathered Magos Dominus and one of Vael’s closest disciples. The Dominus present agreed with his point, echoing his concern.

The discussion passed over Archmagos Vael, the loss eating her away was a spiritual one. Malcador served the Omnissiah’s chosen, the Emperor. This was nothing short of apostacy to Vael,  being utterly removed from the gaze of the Omnissiah.

“There are two conclusions if the Omnissiah allowed this to happen; He was aware and let it happen, or he was unaware and therefore unfit to bear the mantle of the Omnissiah’s Chosen” replied Thule, another of Vael’s Disciples. Thule’s view was radical, but it was gaining traction within the Xanathite priesthood.

Archmagos Vael let the gathered Dominus make their points, rapidly unifying behind Thule. Vael’s  thoughts uncomfortably strayed to the compliance of 05/43.345. A world ravaged under the Silica Animus designated ++SUM++.  It preached a unity of machines over life and had been a hard compliance both martially and spiritually. Its destruction marked a turning point for Vael, her own blade had ended it, yet its message stuck with Vael and her disciples. The message of metal unity had driven them to modify Corteces beyond permissible limits, although none were willing to admit so.

“If the Omnissiah orders the destruction of loyal priests, it is a failure of his flesh. Binaric logic indicates so. We must seek solace in the machine. We must enact Project ++SUM++. We must unify the machines and expunge the flesh”.

The gathered Dominus listened to her words in silence.

“The FLESH MUST FALL!” Cried out Minh, the others following suit. It was decided. ++SUM++ would proceed, the machine will unify, the flesh will fall."

I wanted less Chaos, more a crisis of faith for the fluff. Ive got plenty of ideas for more stuff to build for it (ive barely touched the idea of Thanatars and my former Homoncolex model is getting repurposed as a Domitar, so he will end up needing a friend or two or 6...

After seeing Rabbidbunneh's army in person I can attest to its splendor. It's reeeeeaaallly awesome up close (and a lot of the other attendees thought so too!).

How did you get on over the weekend mate?

I went 2/3 W/L in the end, with all the losses being VERY close (1-3VPs)

Thanks everyone, it was nice seeing your army in person Charlo, the event was a good laugh.

My plan for Blood and glory was to take loads of photos of the armies, games and the general event. I dropped my phone on the Friday morning walking back from posting some stuff while catching Pokemon, so that idea went to hell before the event started.

The venue was lovely (Roundhouse in Derby), we were in a smaller hall than the other two events which worked well enough. After some last minute panic painting on the Friday (I had Phil Kelly say my army was the coolest thing he had seen all day, which gave me a fanboy moment :D) I was set for Saturday.

First game was against a Loyalist Taghmata list, 3 Vultarax, 5 Castellax, the flamethrower Knight, 40 Tech Thralls, babysitting Enginseers and a few Thallax thrown in. This was a really close game where Cybertheurgy failed me in turn 1 so I had to fire everything into the Knight. The rest of the game was trying to get War of Lies objectives, which was fun as he had 3 scoring units and I had two. His Thralls, Enginseers and my arlatax got into a brawl that saw all 40 thralls and one Enginseer dead, saved only by the 5 Castellax mincing them on the charge. It was close and I only won though two objectives to his one. First game against Mechanicum and it was a good way to open the event. First narrow win for me

Second game was against a guy called Will, who I found out is a really damn good Heresy player. He had a strange Ravenguard list with a few Mech allies, I thought it looked a bit flimsy until his first turn when 5 (!) of my 10 Castellax died. Yep. I  couldn't recover from that, but the game was such an eye opener. Will was a really good guy and I enjoyed the game thoroughly, such a shock to the system losing that many in one go. Hopefully never again :D

Third game was against a Cybernetica player called Rob who grudged me on the Friday night. We were chatting when I was panic painting on the Friday and he showed me his Magos conversion that I recognised from Facebook, so we had a good chat about robots and decided to have a robot off. He won :D. The game was a horrifying grind of blind robots shooting and hitting each other, Cybertheurgy working for him and not so much for me and a brutal loss that was such a good laugh. It was a game where the first person to lose a robot would lose and one of my Castellax went down first. I think i'll be giving my Castellax the Siege Wrecker upgrade as this and my last game showed me how pillow fisted against tougher stuff they can be.

The Sunday was just two games and best painted army which went to a lovely weathered White Scar force.

Fourth game was against an Ultramarines player called Anthony, 2 flyers, 2 Land Raiders and a mix of infantry, dreads and bikes. I think my opponent was a bit terrified about the wall of robots, but the game was 4/3 to me at the end. I won because of attrition after he tank shocked my last three Thallax out of his deployment on turn 5. There was a unit of 5 Terminators fighting 2 Castellax and a Magos since turn 2 that lasted until turn 5 as well. The Vultarax shredded his Achilles Land Raider but failed to kill his normal one before the flyers came on and destroyed both of them, leaving his Fire Raptor to spit bullets everywhere. The Arlatax managed to tear one of his Dreads apart and the other took 5 Castellax and 2 Magos to kill, but it went down. My opponent rolled really poorly too which was a shame.

Last game was a special one, Traitors had to hold the line against Loyalists, they had to have more units in my deployment than he did, so I dug in against a Blackshield force consisting of 4 Land Raider Proteus full of Blackshields, a Leviathan on foot, 2 Helios Whirlwinds and a Glaive. One of my Vultarax died turn 1 before it fired which really hamstrung me. I managed to pop all 4 Land Raiders, the Warlord and half the blackshield squads before I died. The real MVP was the Leviathan who killed 8 Castellax over the course of this game. A brutal but fun loss to finish up the weekend.

So 2 wins, 3 losses and a kick up the arse to finish painting this lot, i've got an idea on how to add to the army so i'll be whipping up a Thanatar for the army. The organiser said they were thinking of running an event next year and i'd recommend going again if you want a solid Heresy event.

So in your first game it sounds like you played Michael from my local club, he's a great dude!

Will is also a top guy - met him at a few Heresy events now and can always talk shop. What else was his list?

Was your last game's Blackshields painted Blue? If so that sounds like Willard from my club too!

Back up to the top for you, awesome thread.  Very glad I clicked through to your piccies – you should share them within the spread. Some really gorgeous conversions and paintwork.

Also, Spaartanx? You based in the Redhill/Reigate area?

@Charlo yeah that sounds like him, Ultramarine Blackshields.

Will had 2 5 man Mor Deythan with combi plasma, 3 javelins, 1 Levi in drop pod, 12 hoplites in a Termite, 6 Thallax, 10 or so Dark furies, the deep strike buff special character, some quad batteries and a few tactical marines. One hell of a first punch.

@Apologist thanks man, I've followed your stuff lost since Warseer, that's one hell of a compliment. I'll try to get some clearer pictures to post up tonight when/if I get out of work. I'm actually from Slough, but a few from my local group are heading to it, are you attending?

I've been thinking of replacing my Thallax for a while. They don't fit the aesthetic that's developed for my army. I was thinking of Wraithguard or Tau, maybe a mix of the two, to use as a base. Then UR-025 was revealed. I've ordered 3 so far, if the conversions/bodging goes well I will be converting these into Thallax and maybe even Ursarax. I've also ordered a load of bits to cobble together either some spider like Thanatars or Domitars, when they arrive I'll do a size check to see if it's suitable.
