Malevolence release (Questions, not answers!)

Quick question to any who may have this knowledge:

To my memory, Book VII: Inferno came out late January 2017ish.

How far in advance did they announce when that FW Open Day would be and/or that Inferno would definitely be released at that Open Day?

Hoping to go, but I will need to get on the planning ASAP.

Thanks!

Inferno was available on pre-release at the HH Weekender in February 2017, and was not released in full until March. Expect notifications about event releases a month prior maximum, a week prior (or even a day or two) minimum.

If you're going to an event around that time of the year, go to the HH Weekender in February, not the January open day. It's unlikely they'll release Malevolence in January with the HH Weekender so close. Tickets for the weekender went on pre-release for those who had attended prior events on the 29th of November 2017 for the February 2018 incarnation.

Thanks, Marshal.

So if I have never attended a FW event, I'm SOL in terms of getting tickets ahead of time? Flights ain't cheap!

Tickets go on sale slightly earlier for those who have attended previous HH Weekenders, that's all. It has caused some problems in the past (ticket scalping), and people do miss out, but may have been resolved since I last attended an event; I vaguely remember talk of limits being imposed or the scheme being scrapped but that might just be my imagination as I haven't been active in the 30k community for quite some time now. In any case, you'll know in advance what day they'll go on mainstream sale and will just need to camp the webstore with your wallet in hand.

If you are friends with anybody that attended the Weekender this year, pay them to buy you a pre-release ticket if you're really worried. But unfortunately they give such short notice for their events you're going to be paying through the nose for flights no matter what happens if you wait until you have a ticket in hand before purchasing.

Just to reaffirm what Marshall Loss has stated, the HH Weekender has always had the benefit of offering pre-sale tickets to the previous years attendees for 3-4 days before general release. Last year pre-sales were limited to 2 tickets per person, and were cross referenced to the email address of the purchaser of the previous years tickets.

Tickets are like gold dust outside of pre-sales, as based on the number of familiar faces I see each and every year at least two thirds are regulars. I seem to recall that general release last year only lasted 20 minutes or so.

Also now we generally don’t see what’s going to be available until the Friday of the weekend, although the seminar schedule can drop hints. I’d personally wager money on Malevolance being released at the flagship 30k event in the calendar, but I have been wrong before.

Just seen this up on the Warhammer Community page, and a rather stealthy way to announce the HH Weekender 2019...

Event will take place on Saturday 2nd to Sunday 3rd February at the Radisson Hotel at East Midlands Airport. It would appear that Heresy is sharing the stage with the entire Specialist Games department too.

Tickets go on sale Saturday 10th at 10am GMT - and so far I haven't had any emails saying that I have early access by virtue of attending the 2018 event. Tomorrow morning I will be ringing up FW to see what is going on with that, because 10am Saturday is going to be massively hectic.

Yea saw that, @m_r_parker. Thanks for the additional info!

I’ve been cleared by the tower (Mrs. Indefragable) for a once-in-lifetime trip to WHW, so I’ve been hoping to make the drop of the BA book/Sanguinius reveal THE trip for me.

Guess I need to gamble on perhaps this being it. Perhaps I should chance it. Perhaps I should play the odds. Perhaps I should...

(Wait for it...)

...roll the dice on it.

£75 for the weekend.

I’ve booked 2 nights at the hotel it’s hosted at, and that cost me ~£150. You will be able to find cheaper further out, but will need to factor in transport to and from the event. At least at the Belfry there were plenty of cheap places to stay within a short distance.

I’ll be phoning FW in a bit, and I’ll see if they can confirm ticket price as well as whether the sales area opens on Friday for pre-releases.

With the advent of WHC posting pics and news as it comes, plus this place existing... I'd rather spend money on minis than go to this, sadly!

If one is planning on going (dependent on ticket acquisition), should this be the thread to start discussing plans/meetups and what not or the main thread over in the wildlands of the News and Rumor section?

Do most activities happen there in the hotel or do people filter over to Warhammer World as well (which according to da internetz is 1hr away)?

I would leave the N&R thread for news related discussion rather than planning a meetup (although it's already fallen foul of negative discussions anyway).

I can't fully speak for what will happen this year, as the event already seems to be very different to previous years, but all the activities for the weekend will be at the Hotel. Most people will venture to WHW at some point, but usually either before the event kicks off or afterwards. As for the time to get to WHW from the East Midlands Airport, it's about 20 minutes by car / taxi but I have no idea what public transport is like between the two.

@Indefragable - If you're planning on buying a ticket yourself, rather than having someone else buy one for you, you really need to be awake at 10:00 GMT because I can't see them hanging around for longer than 30 minutes. I'm not sure what the purchase channel is going to be, as in whether they'll be sold via the FW or GW web stores, but hopefully they'll tell us later on in the week. If not I'll give FW a buzz on Friday afternoon to specifically ask which selling channel they'll be using.

Any info you can dig up would be most helpful.

I planned on having my :cuss up at 05:00am local to make that purchase. Web, great! If it's over the phone, than forget it....that'll be almost the cost of the ticket in phone charges.

Crossing my fingers for a Feb. 2019 release of more information about when the next book maybe sort of kinda might come out. Oh and it’s shortened to one legion and has pop ups, no words.

FTFY :)

This release died faster than Ollanius Pious tickling Horus with a bayonet.

Unfortunately, that’s the reason I won’t be going to the FW Open Days (the ones usually held in July) anymore. However the WHC team have been a little better when it comes the the flagship HH Weekender. No doubt most of the cabinet previews and the New Models seminar will be up over the course of the weekend, but a lot of the other seminars will not and I quite enjoy them.

Looks like tickets go through the FW web store rather than the main GW one.

Malevolence is very, very likely to be there, it just hasn't been confirmed yet.

The book's been written and has been done for a while, the only reason it wouldn't be there was if they'd run into printing issues.
