Conine
After the death of Deathwing with 8th ed, I have fallen to Chaos and Papa Nurgle and have recently started collecting Death Guard. They are a fun army to play, really durable which fits my play style and their terminators aren't bad which is a big plus for me. I have a small 1K tournament at our game store coming up in a couple of weeks and am trying to get as many things painted as I can for it. For the tournament you can take two lists and use either one each game. The missions will be from Chapter Approved 2017. I am thinking about this as List 1 and my main list. Battalion Detachment Daemon Prince of Nurgle - Arch-Contaminator & Suppurating Plate, Blades of Putrefaction Sorcerer - Miasma and Blades Cultists (10) - shooty with stubber Plague Marines (6) - Flail and Blight Launcher Plague Marines (6) - Power Fist and Blight Launcher Foetid Bloat-Drone - Spitters Foetid Bloat-Drone - Spitters Plagueburst Crawler - Spitters, stubber My second list is still up in the air, and I am not sure if I will run a second list honestly. The only thing I can think of is something with more deep strike. Battalion Detachment Daemon Prince of Nurgle - Arch-Contaminator & Suppurating Plate, Blades of Putrefaction Lord of Contagion - Plaguereaper Cultists (10) - shooty with stubber Plague Marines (5) - Blight Launcher, Plaguesword Plague Marines (5) - Blight Launcher, Plaguesword Deathshroud Terminators Foetid Bloat-Drone - spitters Plagueburst Crawler - Spitters, stubber Here are some pics of my prince and a couple of plague marines that are done so far. I am working on one of the drones, the LoC and the Plaguecaster right now and will share some more pics of them. Thanks for viewing. Conine
I finished in second place due to points out of I think 8 players and went 2-1 in the small LGS tournament over the weekend. I lost to the winner who ran Dark Eldar. His list was basically what you would expect from DE at 1k points. It was a close game had it gone till the end I might have won. He burnt two objectives for six points which was the difference however.I took a Prince, Sorcerer, 5 PM with Blight Launcher x2, 16 poxwalkers, 2 Bloat Drones and a PBC. 1k points playing the eternal war missions from chapter approved. In game one I faced Orks and squeaked out a win on supply drop or whatever it’s called thanks both objectives being close to my zone. Deployment was Search and Destroy a theme that will repeated throughout the tournament. I lost one squad of PM and the poxwalkers turn one. Everyone had less drops than me and I went first only in the last game. Orks get in your face really easily now and it make you play DG differently than I would most opponents. Despite my best attempts one boy lived through two drones and combat with drones and the prince after da jump, and he spent 5 cp to auto pass and green tide which sucked. I thought for sure I lost after turn one. Against him in a practice game green tide lost me the game. I was able to whittle him down to one squad of boys at the end of four turns, and he had to da jump them again to get on the objective to have any shot of winning but he failed the test. Got lucky there on the dice rolls for the objectives, but I felt like I played well and he only touched the PBC once. I had been struggling with screening it in my practice games. I kept the poxwalkers in the list just to screen it, and I think he was the only opponent to actually shut it down for a turn. I won game 1 8-6.Game 2 was against Dark Eldar. The mission was Scorched Earth. Deployment I rolled Search and Destroy again. I think this was our toughest matchup just because Dark Eldar are so good and maneuverable. He took about what you would expect. A jet fighter, a raider, three transports with troops, two medusas, a unit of mandrakes and a unit of those flying guys with wings. He was able to claim more objectives than me to start with. I probably screwed up on choosing deployment sides and should have gone with the one with less objectives in it because of burning the objectives rule. We weathered his fire pretty well and might have had a shot of tabling him had the game gone longer or atleast sitting on all the objectives but in the end he burnt two for six points (got two rolls of 3 which was rough) and won 16-12. I had moved my Plague marines off one objective because he was holding four and me three for most of the game which allowed him to wipe my poxwalkers and burn one objective. The other he delivered some troops on and burnt it because I was only holding it with a sorcerer and a PBC. Probably not my best showing but the Drones and Prince continued to do work and my poxwalker screen ate fire and kept my opponent from shutting down the PBC. Though one PBC really doesn't do a lot by itself. Game 3 was against Tau (he also could have played Custodes because you could bring two 1K lists to this tournament, but he wanted to play the one he had not played all day). This was the only game I got to go first since I actually won the roll off. Mission was Ascension. I rolled Search and Destroy again for the map. Pretty crazy three times. I also equaled the roll for who goes first all three times and then rolled like a 1 or 2 on the reroll expect this time I got a five. He ran one riptide, one broadside, an ethereal, a commander I guess it was in enforcer, two units of shotgun guys, and one unit of regular troops and a unit of pathfinders. I had never played Tau before but watched enough battle reports to know ask who has markerlights and kill the drones. I went and got on all three objectives by turn two and had two of them at turn one. I hid the prince behind a center LOS blocking piece of terrain turn one and turn two he was in their lines and killed all the HQs. I had one drone holding an objective and the other was with the prince. I then had the sorcerer and one squad of marines on the center obj and the other squad of marines on the other objective. He tried to get that marine squad off the objective with his riptide but the marines held strong, charged and locked it down. I moved the PBC and the poxwalkers on to that objective to hold it. He wasn't able to kill a unit in that game and I won 14-0 to give me second place and a free tallyman to boot. DamnedProphet
Battalion Detachment Daemon Prince of Nurgle - Arch-Contaminator & Suppurating Plate, Blades of Putrefaction Sorcerer - Miasma and Blades Cultists (10) - shooty with stubber Plague Marines (6) - Flail and Blight Launcher Plague Marines (6) - Power Fist and Blight Launcher Foetid Bloat-Drone - Spitters Foetid Bloat-Drone - Spitters Plagueburst Crawler - Spitters, stubber For your first list, do your plague marines have 1x flail, 1x blight launcher, etc. or is it 2x flails, 2x launchers? If it's 1x, how does that affect the performance of the marines? HeresyBeliever
In smaller point competitive games I tend to run a 'NURGLE' list DP 2 x Talons Wings supporting plate, Arch Contaminator - -1 to hit Power Pox bringer - Heal power or -1T power Nurglings Nurglings Nurglings 3 x Bloat Drones spitters You also have 100 ish points left You don't get to use any stratagems from the codex but I have found I hardly do with my lists anyway. At skull of thrones I came 19th a couple of weeks ago 4-1 with only using the re-roll, interrupt and heal stratagem's Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351012-conines-death-guard-tournament-prep-115/#findComment-5194920 Share on other sites

I ran the prince, sorcerer, 16 poxwalkers, 2x 5 man Plaguemarines with a blight launcher, two drones and the crawler. A guy there had a list with them and another with IG. He lost the championship game running his IG list and finished third because we didn't play and I had more points due to the Tau sweep. I don't have any of those models yet just the DG ones. We also couldn't use the rule of three that rule actually says for 1000 points its the rule of two.
