Our Martyred Lady

"Written by Gav Thorpe, this tells a four-part tale of Saint Celestine and Inquisitor Greyfax as they work together to try and prevent a holy war within the Ecclesiarchy that could disrupt the balance of power in the Dark Imperium."

Another civil war? Maybe due to the return of guilliman causing a schism?

Let’s hope so! A good theological war is what’s needed, a cleansing of the church. This (if it turns out to be this) and the changes the Eldar are going through are the only things I’m excited about in this new 40k era.

Will we see an attempt at a 40k enlightenment? A reformation of church and state, a rediscovery of old truths and new scientific discoveries.

Somehow though in true 40k fashion I can’t see it going to plan....at least let’s hope not!

When we heard about this back in February what we got was:

During the turbulent Reign of Blood, a great schism in the Imperial Ecclesiarchy threatened all of Terra and promised a darkness to rival the terrors of Old Night. Fell times have come again to the Imperium and a War of Faith appears inevitable. Standing in the way of catastrophe is Celestine, the Living Saint and one of the greatest heroes of the age. Only she can reunite the warring factions of the Ecclesiarchy and prevent a second Reign of Blood. Together with the Inquisitor Greyfax, Celestine and her allies must hunt across the shrineworlds of the Imperium and beyond to root out the evil behind the schism and burn it out with righteous, cleansing flame.

Just bought it, currently hearing it.

I like Greyfax :D

Oh my, it seems some people like to snort small quantities of a necromunda combat drug to give them a bit of a high.

ok a few spoilers before I go out:

The Inquisition as an organization knows that Guilliman was resurrected by xenos magic

The Emperor speaks to celestine, so he ain't dead. But it's a painful process apparently (like Guilliman experienced)

The Custodes centurion that allowed into the palace the sisters of battle to slay gorge vandire is still alive and well over 4000 years old and in active duty.

Greyfax and Celestine are so tsundere.

Ok more juicy details

The top hat of the Imperial Church thinks Guilliman is trying to rule the Imperium, with his new army of space marines created by heretical means.

The top hat is a political animal tho. He wants to raise the frateris templar and thinks himself a saint in the making.

I was hoping to see at least the preorder popping up on Audible today, but no dice. Here's hoping it'll be up within the next week...

I’d saved my credit for the same reason! They did it for the gotrex and felix book. Surprised this didn’t get the same. Credit now gone on the second Thrawn book. BL will have to wait until next month, if it’s even up by then!

I think they're trying to push their mobile app audiobook store again. Anarch was available there right away, too, but took another week before the Audible release.

I got multiple credits set aside at this point, mostly because there generally hasn't been much that I wanted to listen to since about July (and the sequels to those won't be out til July this year, so there's that), but The Buried Dagger and Our Martyred Lady were on the list. If only I could actually preorder them, but Audible.de still hasn't figured out that preordering English audiobooks is a thing people do anyway. Well, at least I got Titandeath left to tide me over..

At the very least I'm looking forward to OML's audio production and cast interviews on the 5th CD - Realmslayer's interviews were enlightening and incredibly fun (though much of it was gushing about Brian Blessed, for obvious reasons). It'll be interesting to hear a bit behind the curtain after listening to the full production!

You're such a tease! Fingers crossed for next Saturday...

A quick question: Does it reference the previous Gathering Storm-related audio dramas about the Hand of Darkness and Eye of Night at all? Greyfax at least was the star in one of them. I don't think I've read or heard anything about the aftermath of her job from Guilliman, though I am also not quite clear on the timeline itself (since the Hand of Darkness iirc is still instrumental in the Plague Wars for Mortarion, so Yvraine clearly wasn't tasked with retrieving it right after Roboute's wakey wakey).
