In the end, the model was 11" away, you measured, your opponent said you were wrong, and you agreed with him. Consider it an alternative fact that you went along with, because he said it loudly and confidently. You aren't the first to fall for this trick. In the future, ask for a third party for clarification, or just don't play the guy if he's causing you sleepless nights.
