Taliesin
I was looking into getting either this or Justin Hill's Cadia Stands book from 2017. Has anyone read this one, apparently ADB's first? Read the first chapter on Amazon, quite good. If you've read Cadia Stands, how do they compare? aa.logan
I’ve read Cadian Blood, but not yet read Cadia stands. The other Justin D(?) Hill Cadian stories have been excellent, and I’ve really enjoyed them, it’s next on my to-buy (but not to-read or to-listen) list... Cadian blood is nicely self-contained and has some interesting scenes and plots- I blame this book for the many, many sentinels I’ve built and barely painted. Obviously it’s not one of his best works, and at times feels a touch under-developed; I guess were it written now there would be a lot more freedom to explore different plots and aspects of the story with Aaron’s greater standing. It probably comes down to whether you’re looking to keep up with the ‘current’ story or not; Cadian Blood is available in an omnibus with ‘Redemption Corps’ and ‘Dead Men Walking’, I remember enjoying the latter more than either of the others. Knockagh
Both brilliant, but Cadia Stands would be the better of the two for me. It also has a follow up being released soon. I’m hoping Cadia Stands will be a long running series. My advice though would be read them both. Guard novels are fantastic. SkimaskMohawk
I really enjoyed cadian blood, up until the first half or so. The initial ingress of the Shock and calling in the storm troopers was extremely fun to read. The rest wasn't bad...just not on the same level; it's pretty clear it's his first novel Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351114-cadian-blood-by-adb/#findComment-5189195 Share on other sites

aa.logan
could use roomsky's thread couldn't we? http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/349680-rate-what-you-read-or-the-fight-against-necromancy/ That thread seems to be just people *offering* their opinions on books they’ve read of their choice rather than *asking* for opinions on specific ones though Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351114-cadian-blood-by-adb/#findComment-5189769 Share on other sites
b1soul
Cadian Blood is solid but not quite on the same level of DB's subsequent work. Keep in mind...his worst work is (IMO of course) still better than the best work of Kyme, Swallow, and Thorpe Haven't read Cadia Stand Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351114-cadian-blood-by-adb/#findComment-5189865 Share on other sites
