There have been a load of warhammer video games. Blood Bowl and Space Hulk captured those board games very well. Many people got into 40k through Dawn of War, Fire Warrior- not so much.

I'm looking at playing a few more warhammer games. What are people's favourites- either because they are good Warhammer, or because they are good games

Dawn of War Dark Crusade, with and without the Firestorm over Kronus mod. Or Soulstorm with the Firestorm over Kaurava mod. I have spend soooo many hours in those games due to those mods.

Space marine was fun. You felt like a superhuman. I have heard Vermintide is good. There is a humble bundle going on currently if you want some for cheap. Oh and talisman! I loved that games. Others have already mentioned DOW 1+2 which were both amazing for different reasons.

Shadow of the Horned Rat, Dark Omen, Final Liberation and Chaos Gate were all amazing in their day.

Lately?

+ The Total War (I & II) adaptations (with mods) are awesome.

+ Space Marine was a fun shooter and did a good job of captured the look and feel.

+ Space Hulk: Deathwing was fiction come to life, but the gameplay was a bit average - as was Battlefleet Gothic. (Though to be honest, I only logged 20-something hours on BG)

+ DoW series - everything bar number III are good fun, a little cartoony, but fun all the same.

Chaos Gate really captured the feeling of the second edition. Both the score and voise acting is still amazing (and cheesy ) Even if can feel a bit outdated today I usually play it once a year for the nostalgia

Dawn of War II is my go to space marine game. I probably have more hours in the first but the single campaign in DoW II is just perfect (in my humble opinion :smile.:) The differens betwen I and II is that you get more involved with the caracters in DoW II.

Final Liberation - Epic :tongue.:

Warhammer Total War (I & II) for classic Fantasy. Even better with mods

Shadow of the Horned Rat, Dark Omen, Final Liberation and Chaos Gate were all amazing in their day.

I actually found them recently for download on an abandonware website.I was able to install them but couldnt get them to work. Something to do with changes in graphics. I wish I knew how to fix it because I loved Dark Omen when I was a kid.

Shadow of the Horned Rat was my first Warhammer experience. It's funny how coddled I feel by modern games. When I go back to try Chaos Gate or Final Liberation I feel like it's so overwhelming or unforgiving. Haha. How did I ever have fun with those? But DoW 2 was probably the one I enjoyed the most.

Also I quite enjoyed Firewarrior. I never knew why it was so hated.

My first experiance was "rites of war" hex based. Space marines. Imperial guard, eldar, Genestealer infested guard, tyranids.

My favorites are definitly the DOW series and "space marine".

So much fun tearing your way thru a horde of Xenos with Bolter and chainsword!

Total war did a great job with WFB.

Space Marine is fun.

Dawn of War gets repetitive quickly but is still pretty great.

If we're counting fantasy, Vermintide is good. Total War is fantastic: the best TW game and the best love letter to the Old World. Mordheim seems to have slipped by most people but it was pretty good too.

I like Space Marine.

I often use to try out new paint themes.

I sometimes wish that HE made a stand alone version with more colour and armour option just to play with.

Maybe as a wallpaper/poster creator program.

I would pay good money for program that can made a good custom wallpaper/poster

I'd like to see an RTS that had *all* the units from the game, including making Space Wolves, Blood Angels, and Dark Angels unique instead of a pallate swap of Marines. I want beards and axes and puppies, dang it!

And while I'm being biased I would like an adventure game about Space Wolves that actually had a Viking Saga feel to it. Start as a Fenrisian and go through Blood Claw and Grey Hunter. You could just have it go through Ragnar's story, actually. And it could be an RPG! With the controls from Space Marine! Man, now I'm sad.

I really enjoyed Dawn of War and DoWII, and still go back and play them every now and then. I'm very much looking forward to Mechanicus as well, which is out in a couple of weeks.

Outside of 40k, both Total War: Warhammer games are excellent.

Man, my GW video game experience is almost all the old stuff even if there's a heap of the newer ones I'd like to try (Space Marine, Deathwing, and Warhammer:Total War).  But from the ones I played: Final Liberation, Chaos Gate, Shadow of the Horned Rat.

I played a lot of Rites of War when it came out, and I think I bought it and Final Liberation at about the same time.  The Dawn of War series (well, 1 and its expansions at least) were great and made me buy a new graphics card with my allowance.  Dear Warmaster... it's been 14 years?!  Half my life ago?  Yeash, this is gotta be how chaos space marines feel when they get out of the eye of terror "It doesn't feel like its been that long."

I think that would run into issues with the way GW does it's licensing, chopped up into small pieces unless the studio making it had already proven themselves.

For me personally, DoW 1 is still best. 2 didn't have enough Guard in it for me until the last expansion. :D

How have people found Gladius so far? Been waiting on a good Steam-discount to pick it up.

I've fond memories of Fire Warrior, just because of the excitement of playing in the 40k universe in an FPS style. For all the brilliance of both Dawn of War and Space Marine in due course and in their respective styles, it was certainly really immersive and an enjoyable game!

Loved the first Dawn of War and the Necron expansion with the big campaign map.  Space Marine was fun for awhile on the 360 but the last half of the game didn't feel like they spent as much effort, it felt rushed there.  I hope Adeptus Titanicus is good because I'm enjoying the board game version.
