caladancid
Does anyone know what is happening with Black Library selling eBooks directly from their website? Ghost Rider, Hallowed Knights: Black Pyramid, and now the new Gaunt's Ghosts omnibus are all only available to order or preorder in eBook format through Apple and the Kindle store. I sent and email asking, and got back an answer that they (BL) didn't know when or if those books would be available in eBook format. It is very strange considering all the novellas and the new Blackstone Fortress novel are available to buy directly from BL as eBooks. -by Ghost Rider I meant Wild Rider. I know, I am on my A game apparently. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351270-future-of-ebooks-on-black-library-website/ Share on other sites
mc warhammer
interesting. i don't think apple or amazon do distro exclusivity? i wonder if it's costly/time consuming to make ebooks available on your own website? maybe it's a case of letting go of a headache and putting it all in 3rd party hands? Yeah its all very strange because the novellas are on both the BL website and Amazon as eBooks, and they were released in between the titles above. mc warhammer
yeah the inconsistency seems odd. but from what i understand of the back end of some of this stuff, it can be anything from technical to upgrades to waiting on approvals to scheduling to plain old human eff ups. my (unsupported) assumption would be that if they planned to make those ebooks exclusive to other platforms, that there would be some sort of announcement/disclaimer Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351270-future-of-ebooks-on-black-library-website/#findComment-5194123 Share on other sites
Grey Angel
The Death knell Novella is only available in paperback, no ebook option that’s really odd! Burni
I'm pretty sure that the publisher (BL) create the ebook files and submit them to Apple and Amazon. So if they are selling them on Apple Book and Kindle, then the files are done and therefore it must be another reason. I think the ones you get from the BL site are DRM free, so maybe they are worried about piracy? I hope this isn't the norm going forward as I like having the option to get both formats in one purchase. I mostly read in iBooks but have been eyeing up a Kindle and I can just get all the .mobi files from the BL site for books I'd previously bought. That wouldn't be possible if I'd have bought from Apple. Admittedly I could just get the Kindle app for my phone going forward...
