HandsWithLegs
Not exactly sure this is the right place to post this, and only partially sure this topic is allowed, so please delete if this is against the rules. I'm trying to design a new close combat weapon for my Armiger and plan to use 3D printing to do so. I'm currently using solidworks due to it being made available by my college, but due to how shapes and geometry is defined it's been hard to make progress on some of the trickier parts. I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions for alternate programs that are good for modeling warhammer parts, especially ones with more organic parts. One other catch, as a broke college student I am kinda limited to programs that are either free or very cheap. Right now I'm thinking of trying blender even though it's mostly for animation, it looks like you can print from it. Any other suggestions or tips? Doghouse
Blender is your best bet as it is perfect for 3d models and is free, I've printed from it in the past converting them to STL files and it worked fine. Laughingman
Autodesk Fusion 360 is another option, they offer a "free" variant for hobby and students. I prefer it to blender in terms of designing non-organic shapes.
