Trevak Dal
Looking at having my fast attackers be their own detachment, and thinking of using a warband tactic besides World Eaters. Open for all ideas. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351381-what-would-be-a-good-warband-tactic-for-a-raptor-detachment/ Share on other sites

GreyCrow
Night Lords here, especially if you build MSU. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351381-what-would-be-a-good-warband-tactic-for-a-raptor-detachment/#findComment-5196846 Share on other sites
40kChrista
I'm doing Renegades for mine, I feel Advance & Charge is just too good for fast units. I also don't restrict it to Fast Attack only. Warp Talons, and Possessed benefit from it as well. Drop a Sorc next to them for Warptime fun to really increase the potential threat range. If you do go Renegades you still have a lot of flexibility with icons as well... get the re-roll to charge with Khorne, 5+ DttFE with Slaanesh, extra -1 to LD with Nurgle... those are all solid on a larger Raptor or Biker unit. Doom Herald
Night Lords is pretty good. 1 unit of Night Lords Raptors is -2 Ld up to -4 with multiple units. Also their strategem, -1 against hit rolls, grants protection against most overwatch since a hit roll of 6 becomes 5. Advance and charge is good, but safely sinking overwatch is better than the +D6 movement on a 12" movement, in my opinion. Plus, I assume you're taking the Khorne icon for charge rerolls anyway. Renegades is not bad if you want the extra range though. Alpha Legion's can help you move in, but Alpha Legion's -1 to hits can't be used at charge distances and therefore can't stop overwatch. Those are the 3 I would recommend if you are doing melee raptors. I prefer to use them for plasma with the Slaanesh strategem though. Overwatch can't be modified unless the special rule explicitly mentions it (like the T'au Sept tenet making them hit on 5+). Doom Herald
I must have missed that rule. Where can I find it? Panzer
I must have missed that rule. Where can I find it? I don't want to sound condescending but ... it's literally just right there in the Charge Phase under Overwatch. "[...] except that a 6 is always required for a successfull hit roll, irrespective of the firing model's Ballistic Skill or any modifiers." Doom Herald
You're good. I've looked at it a few times but for some reason it just didn't click in my mind.
