looking forward to primaris GK?

Not to break the magic, but the last rumors from Reddit about the GW Open Day stated that:

GREY KNIGHTS ARE NOT GETTING THE PRIMARIS TREATMENT.

So, why even thinking about how to get properly converted models if apparently there is (still?) no need of them? :tongue.:

EDIT: ninjed :D

Better concentrate on true-scaling GK models to the dimensions of Deathwatch, TSons, Deathguard and soon Black Legion Marines if you want bigger Grey Knights since it doesn't look like they will be getting Primaris until way later when/if GW decides to give them proper attention (or none).

I am of the opinion that Primaris models (true scale Marines) are the future of Marines. I know a lot of Marine players hate that idea, but I think the writing is already on the wall. While the fluff around them ranges between mediocre and terrible, the scale of the models is what Marines should have been all along. They look amazing. Does anyone out there believe we will see another new Marine kit that isn't at Primaris scale?

Because I think Primaris is the future of Marines, I am particularly worried about GW comments that GK will not be getting the Primaris treatment. I know they didn't say GK will "never" get Primaris, but I don't see it as a positive indicator that we are not on the list for the foreseeable future.

I think it's important to differentiate Primaris and true-scale. True-scale would be a bit smaller than Primaris and more in line with Deathwatch and the new Chaos Marines. Unless of course you do true-scaling to its extreme but then it wouldn't even resemble Primaris anymore since while those are better proportioned they still aren't really true-scale.

GW still have a whole CODEX worth of plastic models to get done for SoB next year, so GK primaris upgrades are not even on the drawing board for them imo.

Still, GK models are still one of the best looking for the mini-marines (aka non-true scale) range. Keep their awesome Crusader Helms on and their heroic scaling is a lot less noticeable too.

Yeah keep their awesome Crusader helms ... I need them for my Knights of Baal successor chapter! :P

"Grey Knights will not get the Primaris treatment." or. "Grey Knights aren't getting the Primaris treatment at this time"...?

Other then that, YES! I would spend a significant amount of cash on Primaris GK. Or a resculpted version.

Details reported by the Reddit user who wrote down the infos: the question was apparently answered a bit fast and abruptly, then speakers went on answering to other topics. What we have atm is just "no Primaris treatment for GK" without any further specification :)

Let's face it, it can go one of two ways: either there is no plans for GK Primaris at the moment, cause that would involve a whole new kit and models, not the half assed 'chapter specific' upgrade sprues they currently deal or GK won't transition into Primaris, which will mean a slow death for the chapter.

I'm pretty sure we will get them, but it's no where near a priority for Gee Dubya right now.

Yeah the sky is not yet falling. It's just as possible that the GK Primaris range would require such an extensive re-work of the regular Primaris design that they couldn't squeeze their release inbetween the others. Or they go all-out and plan to turn GK Primaris into more than just Primaris with a twice as good bolter and force weapons and give them proper attention this time. Who knows. ^^

I think that's our whole problem here, every other chapter, even the special snowflakes from Fenris, only got basic primaris with an upgraded shoulder pad. If the released primaris grey knights as basic dudes with bolt rifles and a chapter specific shoulder pad, most of up would flip our collective lids.

They need totally new, custom models for us. Also right now all primaris forces are more based around a gun line. Every grey knight comes with a nemesis weapon, something the current primaris can simply be adapted to.

Ill be honest, ill instantly jump the GK bandwagon if they get primaris.

Wait, jump on or off the GK bandwagon?

For me, I'm currently good with my GK models. When you saw off the weapon hands of 20+ GK infantry models to equip (and repaint) them with more suitable NFWs, you can bet I'll be using them for my GK army for a good long while.

I just hope this month's CA will let us take more of the different units, or at the very least bring a fair bit more of our models onto the table.

I agree the general idea is that GK's can shoot and melee.

A guard is like 1.70m a marine like 2.50 so primaris are the right size

What's special about GK is their very own PA model design. If you slap their shoulder pads on a Tac Squad and paint it silver, it's just not the same.

Should GK ever get Primaris, that will either be over and done with (which I would resent) or we'll get knighty Mk X armor (which I'd love).

Hell, imagine the possibilities for Black Templar kitbashes!

But would we really want to pay 40pts for Intercessor Strike Squads? I mean, I would, I started GK in 8th edition so I clearly must be mad, but I might be the only one...

Which I can confirm. It luckily works out for me since they aren't supposed to be Grey Knights tho.

Also they obviously wouldn't cost 40p. Intercessors cost 5p more than Tacticals so they'd cost about 26p. ;)
