WickedJester1013
I picked up half of the tooth and claw box and had a few questions. For the aberrants is there a best way to build them? I’m asking for both kill team and 40k. Or should I wait to build them until the book comes out? A hammer unit with the abominant will usually do work and mulch any vehicles you come across, if you need a decent infantry or light vehicle killers then picks are the choice. If picks are struggling because they're only strength 5 base, you can make them strength 7 with an addition attack if you buff them with might from beyond and the relic banner. If you feel that strength 10 isn't enough for the hammers you can buff them too and if they're struggling to do damage you can keep a Primus nearby so the -1 to hit is cancelled out. Honestly they're one of GSCs best anti tank units at the moment and they can be extremely tough with reducing the amount of wounds they take. I highly recommend keeping a banner nearby for the 6s to ignore wounds on them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351794-aberrants/#findComment-5204367 Share on other sites

For the two bigger ones I find the improvised weapon is the best option and is an all round effective weapon Powerhammers agree better damage against heavy monsters and vehicles, picks are better against everything else and more resilient to penalties to hit Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351794-aberrants/#findComment-5204619 Share on other sites

Is this from tooth and claw? I'm an idiot if this is true. Noneisbackhere
Yes its called Bestial Vigour. 5+ FNP and reduces dmg by 1 to a min of 1. Anyway i got myself 2xTooth and claw aswell(splitted them with a friend) and ive built the first 5. The sprue has 3 picks 3 hammers and 1 Heavy improv. Weapon. I built them as 3xpicks 1x hammer and 1HIW. You dont need that many hammers imo since the Heavy impro can be too good especially when buffed by an Abominant. WickedJester1013
I feel like aberrants with picks would be similar to genestealers and that the hammers would be a bit for their thing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351794-aberrants/#findComment-5205936 Share on other sites
Dosjetka
I only have experience with them in Kill Team but I always take power hammers. Great "distraction Carnifexes" and when they hit, they hit like a freight train at full speed. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351794-aberrants/#findComment-5206040 Share on other sites
WickedJester1013
Chaplain dosjetka What else do you bring with those aberrants? I am trying to build my kill team now and any advice would be great. Dosjetka
I usually run my Aberrants in tandem to avoid having too much pressure put onto one. One is always a Zealot specialist and the other is either a standard Aberrant or my Leader (2 Wounds and -1 damage makes it reasonably tanky). Since they have a -1 to hit from their hammers, there's usually an Acolyte Hybrid or a Metamorph Hybrid with icon and hand flamer (as a charge-deterrant) nearby. The rest of the Kill Team can be whatever you feel like. If you want me to go into more detail, you could create a new thread to discuss GSC Kill Teams or PM me. Oh and there's also a thread dedicated to GSC Kill Teams in the Kill Team subforum where you'll likely find plenty of advice, too. :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/351794-aberrants/#findComment-5206551 Share on other sites
