Cryptix
I'm working on a new chapter of loyalists to replace the Luna Wolves I gave to my nephew, and I decided on a mostly Primaris with a lot of Dreadnoughts, so the scheme needs to be a) relatively easy, b) look good on infantry and dreadnoughts of all kinds, and c) relatively cheap, since it's a new army. Here's what I've been working on: 1) Prime Abbadon Black 2) Base right arm and both shoulder pads in leadbelcher, everywhere else spray retributor gold. 3) Block in bits of khorne red and other details in leadbelcher. 4) Wash everywhere but red with nuln oil, red with agrax earthshade. 5) Drybrush necron compound everywhere that got nuln oil, including the black parts. 6) Red gets highlighted with wazdakka red. 7) Add transfers, markings, etc. 8) Weather. Any thoughts? Suggestions? This mainly uses paints I already have except for retributor gold, abaddon black, and wazdakka red. Imren
I'd cut down the scheme to two colours instead of three colours, due to the follwoing reasons: Two colours (preferrably contrasting colours, one main armour colour and one rims or pads colour) looks more uniform and ties the army together better. Two colours will save hours in total time you spend on painting an army with that colour scheme If you are going to use the fist symbol perhaps steer away from yellow as main armour colour, since most people that sees this army painted up on the table will most likely confuse that army with imperial fists, so either change the chapter symbol or exchange the yellow to another colour. Also if you're not printing the chapter symbol on decal sheet, then simplfy the chapter logo. Use preferrably only one colour in the symbol and make it more a simplified contour of simple shapes (Think UM, DA, BA, SW symbols, they are simple, monochrome and low on detailed shapes) , It will save you many hours and it will look much better, believe me because I have the experience of just that (I made my own chapter with khaki colour scheme and the teal coloured cobra symbol seen as my account pic as chapter logo). Not only will a much more simple chapter symbol look way better when freehanded but also save you many many hours in the long run when painting up the whole army list you plan (keep in mind you will freehand this on every infrantrymans should pad and on vehicles etc).
