Valoris

I can’t officially answer this as my bias has me believing he is the coolest dude in the 40k universe with an axe!

Realistically though as good as the point drop is, it only leaves room to help allies out... or add some misericordias. I wish the Allarus saw the real drop.

I will be, I used him intermittently before, and now I think his cost is just about right, I'll likely be deepstriking him in with some terms. He can easily make that back if he gets to hit something big, he's probably still not the most optimal choice, but now we can at least run him without handicapping the list

I'm probably as biased as Prot here, but...

He's quite the monster for his points now, some excellent flexibility and nigh-unkillable outside of Mortal wounds. Not to mention he makes all Custodes pretty much 99.9% effective in all of their attacks just by standing near them. The only thing letting him down is the random damage on his Axe instead of a flat 3 or something.

However, he will slay the enemies warlord if he makes it in contact with them - fighting twice as a free ability is absolute insanity in a CP starved army (as is his ability to gain back 1-3CP too!). Healing D3 wounds probably isn't worth it unless you're in a nail biting combat, but even then you'd probably just choose to swing again.

100% using him.

Will I take him? Sometimes. Just to do so.

Do I think he's worth it when I could otherwise get a normal Shield Captain AND another Custodian on top of it? No. He's not. At all.

Because yeah, he got a points drop. But so did normal Shield Captains.

Man I disagree so much. With that Str10 and re roll auras he definitely has a purpose. What other Custode has the potential to do 30 wounds to a Knight?

Just a question about his ability with the moment shackle.

Does he get an additional (1) attack at the end of the fight phase, or does he "fight" again with the full number of attacks in his profile?

He fights again with all his attacks :)

Is that just straight from the codex, or is there an added faq /errata to confirm this?

I’m not aware of any faq about it but that is the correct use of the rule. The support you need, if you’ve got to prove it to someone, is in the wording. Firstly it says he piles in again. Abilities that just give you an additional attack to your stat line never let you pile in again.

Secondly, it does not say Valoris fights again, it says you fight with Valoris again. It’s a small but key difference. Fighting with a unit means fighting normally with all that units abilities/attacks.

I have to agree, and I feel this quote from the preview article fully backs up the intention for me, if anything it's just slightly bad wording from GW but that's not a new phenomenon

"Valoris is also armed with the Moment Shackle, an unusual relic of Dark Age technology which lends him some extra flexibility during your games. Once per battle, you’ll be able to pick a powerful one-time ability for Valoris, from fighting again at the end of a Fight phase to regaining lost Command Points."
