Long Fang Models

Hi All,

I just wanted to build a second Long Fang unit with 4x Plasma Cannon. What is your best/cheapest way to get to that?

- it seems the original Long Fangs Box is not for sale (at least I cant find it anywhere online)

- there was only 1 Plasma Cannon in the box anyways

- maybe buy devastators?

- or just a box of grey hunters and then 4x Plasma Cannons as bits on ebay?

Tips are appreciated ;-)

Thanks!
Stephan

Anyone experience in converting Grey Hunters? They must be the same bodies and heads as the Long Fangs. Since I have to pick up the plasma cannons elsewhere anyway..

Yea! it’s the same sprue had you bought them way back when. I give them the trophied up parts, give them glorious white hair and squad markings and jobs a good ‘un.

all you need are marine legs and torso

can be vanilla...blood angel or space wolves

all the heavy weapons you will buy separately will include arms and backpack

a regular SW box has extra torsos....just buy spare legs and heavy weapon bits (i got all my lc...ml...pc from ebay)

The FW under slung weapons do not come with arms, just fyi, I found that the GW Horus Heresy mark II and mark IV arms work best with those weapons, and then just wolf them up with the extra bits from the Space wolf pack box you get, and some green stuff pelts. And I really like the those under slung weapons,

In my opinion a Space Wolf is a Space Wolf and really a Tactical Marine with teeth and talismans and a beardy head is a Space Wolf. Give him a heavy weapon and he's a Long Fang. Give him a power sword or storm shield or whatever and he's a Wolf Guard Pack Leader or a Battle Leader or a Wolf Lord. Maybe I should hold myself to a higher standard and insist that my Wolf Lords be painted with glorious markings to denote their rank but I really don't have models to spare and I prefer the flexibility to decide on the fly whether I want a pack leader or whatever. (I basically made my own painting rules to allow this: Grey Hunters have teal shoulders bc I like teal, BCs have red, LFs have yellow, and WG and all leaders including Terminators, characters, and pack leaders, have green).

My Rune Priest and Wolf Priest are converted Grey Hunters but painted appropriately (Runes all over/black armor, respectively) so I can't swap them out. But in any case characters are the biggest instance where I follow the rule of "a marine is a marine" because I rarely am interested in blister pack models or anything monopose.

But yeah, my Long Fangs are devastators (from before there was a Long Fang box) mixed with Grey Hunters, and I got the fifth heavy weapon per squad from the extras in the box. If you can track down the weapon you want, any marine body will do just fine.
