Redmaw's Great Company - The Bloodied Hunters (PLog)

Witty Executioners

Recommended Posts

Hello Brothers,

So I've been in a long hibernation, hobby wise, and decided to rise out of it with a proper Space Wolf Great Company.

I decided on Redmaw's crew based on their cursed nature and heavy use of Wulfen, sudden multi-pronged strikes and general desire to get in close and rip peoples' faces off.

I couldn't stomach the thought of decking out my bloodied savages in the powder blues of the codex scheme, so I opted for something closer to the original Legion colours.

The Great Company as of now:

46D2CC3F-B7C8-4B22-8188-1B809F5673BA.jpe

33 Grey Hunters (and WGPL)

11 Blood/Sky Claws (and WGPL)

8 Long Fangs (PL and WGPL will be generated out of unused models)

10 Wulfen (Not Assembled)

WGBL, Rune Preist, and Wolf Priest (all w/ Magnetized Jump/Back Packs and Loadouts as appropriate)

Bjorn and Murder Fang

3 Razorbacks

(Also it appears as if I actually live on Fenris, damn Canadian Winters)

First Pack of Grey Hunters (so far):

Still need Bases done, but I haven't quite decided on how to do them; will be snow though.

Murder Fang

Made from an old Dread and the Murderfang bits out of Bjorn's Kit. (Which I have to say is amazing they put all that extra stuff in)

I'll keep adding pictures and other relevant info as I finish models and the Great Company's Saga is added to.

Comments and Critiques are most Welcome.

Thanks in Advance,

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback!

Kind of slacking at the moment with the Holidays and all, but should have a Razorback done this weekend as well as a start to round out the remainder of the Grey Hunters into 2 packs of 6.

That being said I was crunching some numbers for lists and realized that some loadouts weren’t great. I also wanted to add the option of trimming points here and there or adjusting equipment to better suit intended unit roles. So out came the drill and in went the magnets. Figured it would be easier to paint an extra arm or two rather than another whole model just to swap 5 points of wargear. Also finished magnetizing jump packs on my characters and Blood/Sky Claws.

Banged out that Razorback.

(Was built a while ago by a younger, less patient me so please ignore the gaps and shoddy bodywork.)

(Also I forgot the Headlights.... der)

Should have another GH Pack in a few days.

Cheers!

You can claim the dark headlights are infrared lights, projecting light in frequencies invisible to unaugmented humans (naturally, Space Wolves and other Astartes can see it just fine). That should justify not painting in the headlights.

Excellent work on the Razorback, overall.

Quick Update.

Finished up my two first GH packs with Pack Leaders (weapons are magnetized and interchangeable)

And the Great Company to date. Still need to do those bases....

Working on the remainder of the GH to get me to three squads and then will start on my LF and some characters.

Cheers!

The bases will be snow to help play up the darkness of the scheme. I just painted them Fenrisian Grey for..... reasons I don’t really know haha.

I cracked open my Wulfen to get something put together to paint that would be new and exciting after I finish my GH. But.... I just can’t, I thought the chickenfootery and ridiculousness of the models was overblown, but now actually looking at them... I see those opinions were pretty valid. So after some research I really like the look of Primaris-ized Wulfen, so I ordered a bunch of Primaris legs and torsos. With some cutting and putty work and some gems, runes and pelts I think they’ll look nice and unique(ish) while still giving that once-a-marine feel. Kind of like the old 13th coy Wulfen models which I quite liked back in the day.

All of this got me thinking about Bran Redmaw himself and how he’s a bit of a loose cannon, cursed and an all around bad ass. So I figured I would show his Wulfen tendencies and build him in the Wulfen and Primaris scale. Looked around and picked up a Haldor Icepelt to base him off. I really like the fluff of his Epic Frost Axe, but sadly it’s Hammer Time All the Time in my Great Coy.

Anyway just some thoughts. Does anyone have any experience mixing these kits or know of any potential speed bumps or any tips and tricks? Anything including criticism is welcome and appreciated.

Cheers!

Whew,

Minimum GH squads are finally all done! Time to move on to some more bad ass models, and hopefully get some work done on my Wulfen when their primaris bodies show up.

Here are the last of the GH.

And here are the characters I’ve put together. Wolf Lord/WGBL :

Rune Priest (who has a Jump Pack magnetized and will also be on a more built up base in order to properly fit his pose.)

http://rs152.pbsrc.com/albums/s174/ComradeSnarks/48F3645E-D98A-47B2-895A-A9F7761EC05D.jpeg?w=480&h=480&fit=clip

Anyway Going to be working on these guys next and hopefully going to play an intro game at my local as well!

C+C is always welcome.

Cheers!

  • 3 weeks later...

First Armoured Wulfen assembled:

They’re not as dynamic as I would have liked, but they are beefy which definitely makes up for it.

Finished off the Rest of the Pack. Time to g t some paint on these guys.

Still not entirely sold on the guy on the far left something seems too awkward.

And here is my Bran Redmaw (counts as Wolf Lord with Jump Pack)http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s174/ComradeSnarks/1A30A7EA-0DD7-46AA-9F17-0F5A59504C46.jpeg

Maybe try the hammer arm down and to the side. Breaks up the pose from the other guys. All looks awesome though. Good job!!
