Marshal Reinhard
This might be a topic that gets answered definivately very quickly and ceases then to serve a purpose, but said purpose is to answer the question: "In lore, how much larger are Primaris marines than regular Astartes, if at all?" In game terms, we can see that Primaris are noticeably larger than classic marines, but this is mostly a relic from the old heroic scale that the classic marines had followed hitherto. Jes Goodwin, noted in the first episode of the voxcast, that the purpose, or at least a major purpose of Primaris was to reproportion marines. This is strictly a miniature related issue, and in lore and art classic marines have always had 'correct' proportions already. The latest batches of chaos marines (TS, DG, BSF generic chaos marines) have all been noticably taller than any previous classic marine kit, but Primaris seem just a bit more noticably taller still. Unless chaos makes you grow a little taller, this seems to me to be the best indication that classic marines too should be larger than their kits suggest, but perhaps still not as much as Primaris. So my question is, in the lore, where space marines of all kinds have always been depicted as tall adamantine clad giants, is there any mentioned of size difference between classic and Primaris? Are they explicitly mentioned as being larger anywhere and if so by how much? helterskelter
Depending on various artworks to go off, it seems to me to be about another half a foot to a foot on top of what they already are So about 8'6" to 9" So for example monster sized marines like pasanius, might be primaris sized already and if fluff dictated he changed he'd be Alpharius sized at the very least. Conversely shorter marines in the spectrum would make a primaris 8' Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/352535-primaris-marine-size-in-lore/#findComment-5220449 Share on other sites

Guest
but it isn't stated plainly in text that they are larger anywhere? They are stated to be larger than Logan Grimmar. "Logan Grimnar in full battleplate was no meagre sight, but the Son of Macragge that stood next to him was even larger." MadGreek
At the end of Devastation of Baal, when the Primaris are introduced, Dante notes they are taller and broader than a normal Space Marine. Don't remember the exact quote, but it's there. RikuEru
but it isn't stated plainly in text that they are larger anywhere? In Dark Imperium 1 there is a scene with Felix (Primaris) + other Primaris coming into a room with Cato Sicarius or Uriel Ventris or so and I !think! it's said the Primaris are almost a head taller. (Maybe someone can give you the exact quote. I sadly can't look for it, zil after the Holidays, to see if I remember correctly) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/352535-primaris-marine-size-in-lore/#findComment-5220510 Share on other sites

Which means.... Yeah. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/352535-primaris-marine-size-in-lore/#findComment-5220604 Share on other sites
