Rune Priest Ridcully
So with the temporary rerelease of vostroyans I’m planning to get some to support my Grey knights. I was thinking getting the platoon set as I already have one first born squad and plasma gunner, and a pair of extra lascannon teams so as to take a loyal 32 to give my grey knights command points, back field presence and anti tank. Suggestions? Are snipers worth it for example? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/352631-vostroyan-support/ Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Snipers are not that great unfortunately, but cheap at least so if you don't have another use for that special weapon slot some speculative sniping isn't a terrible addition Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/352631-vostroyan-support/#findComment-5222863 Share on other sites
Halfpint100
Pity about the price £15 a special weapon. So expensive. Rip some vostroyans for me Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/352631-vostroyan-support/#findComment-5222883 Share on other sites
Danny Cyanide
The price isn't bad if you buy the platoon. Comes with 2 plasma, grenade launcher and 2 heavy weapon teams included. Tyr13
You forgot a flamer, actually. So 4 specials. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/352631-vostroyan-support/#findComment-5223253 Share on other sites
Captain_Krash
Exactly buying 1-3 of the platoons isn't bad considering the special weapons and heavy weapons are so expensive by themselves... The Black Guard
It's not just me right - GW has made them more expensive than they usually were? Anyway this puts us in good-ish stead for plastic models for the other regiments? What do you think? Trickstick
It's not just me right - GW has made them more expensive than they usually were? Anyway this puts us in good-ish stead for plastic models for the other regiments? What do you think? Plastics are very expensive to set up. I would be thankful that we have two plastic lines. I could maybe see them doing another one if they dropped one of the current ones. For example, if they wanted to push Chimera/Taurox sales I can see them dropping Catachan and releasing new Steel Legion plastics. But 3 lines for basic infantry seems too much. I don't think any other faction even has 2. Marines have upgrades and stuff, but not wholly different kits. I could maybe see them doing another one if they dropped one of the current ones. I tend to agree. I think they'll run with the existing setup for the foreseeable future. Between molds for Cadians, Catachans and Scions, that's a lot of coin invested that needs to be recouped. Even a rise in sales of the existing lines and an expanded player base for the Guard won't change anything as it'll focus on the existing minis. 3rd Party companies have crowded in on the 'alternative' Guard market, DKoK is available for those that love winter Guard and GW can still roll out the Made to Order trick for old regiments if they need to boost IG sales. To the OP's question, I wouldn't bother with Snipers, especially given the monetary value attached to the models. If you're after CP, back-field campers and anti-tank in your Loyal 32, I'd suggest just picking up Lascannon HWS and basic Infantry Squads. (Heavy Bolter / Flamer) You can always convert Plasma dudes from the Flamer dudes. -Ran Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/352631-vostroyan-support/#findComment-5223573 Share on other sites
Doof
Vostroyan Snipers get +6" to their range, making them reach out to 42". I put 3 of them in a Veteran squad with a HWT ( autocannon most likely) You have to kit-bash vostroyan auto cannons however. i have 150 Vostroyans painted up. I will probably buy a platoon.
