koran
Its been a LONG time since I have posted anything here, mostly due to me working on non-power armoured things. But Im back with some Ultramarines (well a test model).Im really liking the narrative of Guilliman returning and hating the stagnant, backwards state of the Imperium. It gives the chance to do something not just grim-dark so Ive gone for a NMM/shiny colour scheme. I'm always trying to learn new things so constructive criticism is always welcome. If someone could explain how I can resize images from a B&C gallery that would be really appreciated. http://bolterandchainsword.com/uploads/gallery/album_15111/gallery_42419_15111_233301.jpg http://bolterandchainsword.com/uploads/gallery/album_15111/gallery_42419_15111_907938.jpg http://bolterandchainsword.com/uploads/gallery/album_15111/gallery_42419_15111_838903.jpg http://bolterandchainsword.com/uploads/gallery/album_15111/gallery_42419_15111_806678.jpg http://bolterandchainsword.com/uploads/gallery/album_15111/gallery_42419_15111_1113200.jpg

koran
These look great! Might I ask wahtncolors you used on the scratches and battle damage?  Thanks.  The blue armour is dark prussian blue, dark blue, andrea blue and then andrea blue mixed with white. The scratches are just black and then the white with a tiny amounr of andrea blue. Sabadin
Very impressive, personally I'm most impressed with the quality of the white on the shoulder pads, and the leather pouch on the back. Very fine work, especially on a pouch that normally would get very little attention.

koran
Thanks for the kind words guys. The next project is Calgar. While I like the new model I cant stand the YMCA pose so Ive been doing some work to give him a pose similar to the last version in Terminator armour, walking forward with a purpose :p It wasn't actually too bad a conversion to do, just a little green stuff and some flexible ammo belts required. Guiltysparc
Â Â These look great! Might I ask wahtncolors you used on the scratches and battle damage? Thanks. Â The blue armour is dark prussian blue, dark blue, andrea blue and then andrea blue mixed with white. The scratches are just black and then the white with a tiny amounr of andrea blue. Awesome, thanks...so basically it's black with a little of your top level higight color?

Awesome, thanks...so basically it's black with a little of your top level higight color? Yep. Exactly right. Sometimes I add a little more white to make the highlight stand out a little more but not by much. With some time over the holidays Ive got on with another repose, this time for Guilliman. I really thought I didnt like te model much but it seems it was really all down to the silly leg pose (and the horrible bare head). Similar to Calgar, I really wanted him striding forward with a purpose, and what better purpose than being about to smash a filthy heretic in the head with a flaming sword! Considering I haven't seem many conversions like this I was surprised at just how easy it was. I need to do a bit of greenstuff work on the leg join and where I took off the purity seal on his chest armour as it was blowing in the wrong direction considering his movement. Death Dealer 101
Looking good. About the first time myself that big G looks decent. Any chance of some different angles or further explanation of what you had to chop to make him?

Any chance of some different angles or further explanation of what you had to chop to make him? Will do. I'll wait until the green stuff work is finished so I can do a clear explanation. The link to my Instagram is in my signature below. I will have a 360 degree video on there at some point too (I dont think you can post videos here but please correct me if Im wrong. In other news Ive started on Calgar. Just got the blue done for now. Next up I need to do the gold and battle damage on the blue.
Death Dealer 101
Sigs don't appear in mobile version. Switched to web mode, you have some lovely models :) An explanation would be fantastic, couldn't see a video on your account for big G.

Inquisitor lorr
The Calgar and Gulliman conversions are fantastic - so simple, yet they instantly add a new dynamic to the models. Good work! Can't wait to see them both painted up. Where are the belt feeds from?

koran
I found some time to finish the greenstuff work on Guilliman today. This was just the soft armour in the leg joint and the purity seal on the chest (originally this was flying forward which doesnt really look right with his new pose marching forwards). I mentioned in a post above that this wasnt actually very hard to achieve. The picture below shows where the original model had to be cut (red line, the leg and the sword to reverse it so that the fire was flowing upwards as it should) and then the green blobs show where I had to put a ball of greenstuff to act as a spacer (green circle, the leg and the back sword arm needed a bit to give it a natural pose). And that was it.

koran
Ive been really bad at updating here (getting images uploaded from my phone is a pain). So Ive been working on a Redemptor Dreadnought to try out some more 3d design. I started out with making a more interesting base. I wanted something urban that looked like a street that would really work, so with a gutter and actual drainage: I cant seem to work out how to make rubble without it taking forever on the program Im using (Sketchup) so decided it was easier to add the smaller rubble after it was printed. The stuff I use is pretty translucent so its a little difficult to make out but when its painted it should be clearer. And finally with the Redemptor Dreadnought in place. I really like the pose this miniature can be put into, really dynamic. Such a great kit. Is there a quicker way to upload images than to the gallery and then here? It really does make things take a long time?If you want to see more WIP I post more regularly to Instagram artisans_of_vaul
sockwithaticket
Such stellar work on everything. Your paintjobs speak for themselves, the re-pose of Guilliman is much better than the original and the base has come out really well.
