Kierdale
How do you keep your grots in line? A runtherd (2?) with...grabba stikk or grot prod? Grot lash or squig hound? Any clan preference for the Runtherd? I have some spare unbuilt (foot) Nobz and might make one or two into Runtherdz. FlamingDeth
Of note, the runtherd models are boy sized just fatter. The way I keep runtz in line is that I don't, I take MSU grots since individually they're terrible and that way I get more CP. Anything that shoots at them at that point is probably going to wipe them out anyways, and if they don't, oh well, morale can eat them up, don't care. Maybe with larger mobs runtherdz could be useful but I don't really see a point to larger mobs of grots this edition. toaae
Runtherdz aren't worth their points. Grots die so easily, saving a few from morale isn't worthwhile in comparison to just taking more. If you were going to run a large mob of them, then maybe, but a Warboss does the same thing, has a lot going for him outside of that, and is probably already in the list. Just make sure to daisy chain to him. But running large grot mobs isn't really necessary, either. Obscura
It's generally not worth trying to have Grots stick around, they're a speed bump/bullet catcher unit. Use them and abuse them, don't expect them to do much and maybe you'll get a lucky kill when they shoot something. Kierdale
:D I guess I’ll be making them as foot nobz then! Well, I might make one Runtherd as I’d simply like to model one. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/352699-of-gretchin-and-runtherdz/#findComment-5224610 Share on other sites
Warhead01
For years now I just field 30 grots (or mobs of a sufficient number for the points I plan to spend on them.) And just that's it. I don't bother worrying about them. If you are a target fine but usually no one want's to waste the ammo on them. Although in the past, prior to the codex and for edition before they seem to follow the warboss and Big Mek around and are useful in that way for those characters as a speed bump or a tar pit. Protected by the KFF on the Big Mek. but at 3 points each I don't care about them beyond finding it humorous when they stump the enemy or achieve something spectacular. They've killed a Dark Eldar Lord in close combat at least twice now in 20 years. Mostly I was excited about using them with the Mob up stratagem to keep their numbers up but I haven't played a game since October and they weren't in my last list. I think you should plan how to protect them based on what you plan to do with them now. or don't do anything and just see what happens if you've no plan for them in that game.
