L30n1d4s
Some have advocated getting rid of CPs, others going to an AoS type system, along with all kinds of other suggestions about how to make CP generation more fair across all armies. Right now, armies with cheap Troops and/or cheap access to Brigades have a very distinct advantage over other armies in getting CPs, especially versus low model count, elite armies. To fix this, but still give incentive to field troops and use detachments, here is my two part proposal: 1 - If you army is battle forged and drawn entirely from a single Codex (or the Forgeworld options for that codex), then you get 6CP "base" instead of the normal 3 CP. (RATIONALE) --- This obviously encourages people to use single faction armies and provides a balance to the power of soup list which cherry pick the best performing models from multiple factions (note, this doesn't punish soup players, but just provides "pure" faction players some competitive incentive to play their armies). 2 - Rework detachment point generation as follows: **Battalion -- For every 100 points of Troops you take (rounding down) in the Battalion, you get 1 CP. **Patrol -- For every 200 points of Troops you take (rounding down) in the Patrol, you get 1 CP. **Brigade -- For every 100 points of Troops and every 250 points of non-Troops you take (rounding down) in the Brigade, you get 1 CP. **Spearhead -- For every 200 points of Heavy Support you take (rounding down) in the Spearhead, you get 1 CP. **Outrider -- For every 200 points of Fast Attack and/or Dedicated Transports you take (rounding down) in the Outrider, you get 1 CP. **Vanguard -- For every 200 points of Elites you take (rounding down) in the Vanguard, you get 1 CP. **Flyer Wing -- For every 200 points of Flyers you take (rounding down) in the Flyer Wing, you get 1 CP. **Fortification Network -- For every 200 points of Fortifications you take (rounding down) in the Fortification Network, you get 1 CP. **Super-Heavy Detachment -- For every 250 points of Lord of War you take (rounding down) in the Super-Heavy Detachment you get 1 CP. --Supreme Command Detachment -- No CPs for taking this detachment. **Super-Heavy Auxiliary Detachment -- No CPs for taking this detachment. **Auxiliary Detachment -- You lose -1CP for every 200 points of models (rounding up) taken in this detachment. (RATIONALE) --- This rewards people for taking Troops (i.e Battalions, Patrols, Brigades), but still allows functioning armies with other detachments, especially if they are mono faction (see proposal number 1 above). Importantly, it also gives CPs based on points spent, not how cheap your troops are, so a Battalion of Custodes can get as many CP as a Battalion of AM or Orks, for example. Finally, it discourages the use of cheap allied detachments for "CP farming" abuse, since you have invest significant points to get CPs (i.e. the infamous "loyal 32" would only give you 1 CP and would also disqualify you from getting the 6 CP "base" for being mono faction unless you entire army was already AM).
