Azekai
Howdy folks, I recently ordered some kits with translucent/clear components. My normal gorilla glue superglue is strong but almost always leaves behind a frosty residue that is basically impossible to disguise without painting the plastic. What are some good brands available in the US that set 'cleanly' and wouldn't mess up the see-through nature of the plastic? Ovidius Incertus
You can try Zap 560. It's a glue designed for model plane cockpits. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/352878-clean-transparent-glue/#findComment-5228328 Share on other sites
Phantomzero17
Testors also makes a cement specifically for this purpose. Model airplanes and such. Arkhanist
Most canopy glues are basically just strong PVA, so you may already have a suitable woodglue PVA. Craft PVA aimed at paper though is usually too dilute for a decent hold. Easy to clean up with a damp finger/q-tip. Because of the different plastics, poly cement can cause warping and fogging, and CA risks fogging unless applied in very small amounts in a fine seam. I've seen a number of people recommend zap 560 and gs-hypo cement (bit cheaper!) if you don't have a suitable PVA. Azekai
Thanks for the responses. Gonna compare the Testors stuff with the hypo cement, one of those should do the trick. @Arkhanist, you are right, I do have a couple varieties of PVA, but I don't trust the bond strength.
