Quixus
Where can I find that nifty chart that says, if a wargear unit exists on the index unit, you can use it with the codex unit e.g. Combi melta on a Thousand Sons Sorcerer in TDA? N1SB
Great question, I think you mean the Developer's Commentary of 40k and it's in the Warhammer Community's FAQ section, and it's right here: https://whc-cdn.games-workshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/warhammer_40000_designers_commentary_en-1.pdf And it's this one I think you mean. Ciler
Side question. If I use a datasheet from the index (say a space marine character on bike), do I also use the index for points ? This is relevant if (for instance) the model is equipped with a power fist which is now sizeably cheaper in the codex. Quixus
Is the point cost a rule? I think so. Use the points from the codex as the chart says. Brother Casman
Given that points are regularly reviewed and revised in Chapter Approved, I would go with the latest published points costs. Slasher956
Why wouldn’t he be? Large chunks of peoples armies are 2nd ed models .... 90% of mine are 3rf Ed Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353026-index-vs-codex-units-and-wargear/#findComment-5235148 Share on other sites
Leonaides
He is quite definately Marneus Calgar so yes - though you probably wouldnt be able to use him as Primaris Calgar. I cant remember if the Index Astartes had rules for Calgar not in terminator armour, so you might have to use those rules, rather than his power armour rules (i assume thats the one you are talking about, not the guy on a chair/toilet). chapter master 454
Ok so I have a further question that could be asked within the same context of this thread then. Tau have the hammerhead both in the codex and forge world index and their points are correct (both are the same costs) HOWEVER the forge world hammerhead (or one of them) can take high yield missile pods. In the forge world index, those codex 41 per where as in the codex they are 25 points per. As per what is stated here hold true for points and thus we use points that exist within the codex or the index of forge world? This chart would say use the codex for points (which would be 25) AND within chapter approved 2018 when referring to what points to use, it even states the most recent publication of the rules for those pieces of gear (again, that would be the codex). Slasher956
I'd email the FAQ team as its most likely they 'missed it off' the list of forgeworld TAU weapons. After all CA2018 brought all the Craftworld weapons costs in to line with the Codex. Personally I'd use the codex cost as thats the common published book Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353026-index-vs-codex-units-and-wargear/#findComment-5236175 Share on other sites
Panzer
Not a direct answer to the question but it indicates that FW units always use the latest versions of things that you also use for the Codex: Q: Can I use the weapon profiles for things like lasblasters andD-cannons from Codex: Craftworlds, or do I have to use theones printed in Imperial Armour – Index: Xenos?A: You can use the profiles from Codex: Craftworlds. Q: Can I use the weapon profiles for things like deffkannons andsupa-gatlers from Codex: Orks, or do I have to use the onesprinted in Imperial Armour – Index: Xenos?A: You can use the profiles from Codex: Orks.
