TiguriusX
Here is the list I took to my tournament No hard core planning behind it...basically I have new models and I wanted to test them -Stormfang -Stormwolf -Wulfen -Aggressors ++ Battalion Detachment +5CP (Imperium - Space Wolves) ++ + No Force Org Slot + Trophies of Fenris: Trophies of Fenris - 1 Extra Relic (-1 CP) + HQ + Wolf Guard Battle Leader on Bike: Power fist, Storm shield, The Wulfen Stone . Rapier Carrier: Quad launcher Rapier Carrier: 2x Space Marine Gunner . Rapier Carrier: Quad launcher Relic Leviathan Dreadnought: 2x Heavy flamer, Hunter-killer missile, Storm cannon array, Storm cannon array ++ Total: [109 PL, 2000pts] ++ Game 1 - Druhkari/Eldar 3 ravagers 6 venom A bunch of haywire units deep strike units A bunch of deep striking mandrakes 3 archons Eldar for doom Report We both deployed hiding everything in a corner of the map and I didn't want to move and open up too many holes for his deep strike so i chose to go 2nd He moved nothing turn 1 I moved 1 rapier gun across the map line to get into another quadrant and kept my flyers on the far map edge My first mistake of the day was not firing rapiers with indirect fire mode. Rusty rusty... Turn 2 things started rolling He sent in his haywire specialist units and went after the storm wolf I tried to chooser of the slain but he said VECT... He made a mistake here by not moving his eldar close enough to doom A bunch of players were at the table discussing and advising him that is how the list is built...it requires doom to obliterate things He brought the stormwolf down to 2 wounds but it survived. I hope this helps him at LVO My counter punch was ok but not strong enough I blew up 1 ravager and 1 venom with a keen sense leviathan (lets it move and shoot flyers at BS2 still....love the combo) I disembarked the 2 wound stormwolf and charged the haywire things wiping them out I outflanked the aggressors to his rear objective and the combination of stormfang/rapier/aggressors killed a venom and all the infantry inside I was ahead on kills and objectives so got a huge point lead T3 it started to unravel The counter punch I delivered simply was not strong enough His remaining flyers were able to deliver massive firepower and remove my units His eldar moved to my aggressors and smite/executed them off the board His mandrakes came in and killed my rapiers His ravagers focus fired on my doomed leviathan and shredded it I made a mistake with Stormwolf placement and had my 2 wound flyer within 6" of the ground units (first game with the flyers) He blew it up and when it exploded it took 2 wulfen and 4 BC down.... He mopped up the wulfen and BC with buckets of AP 0 poison shots I basically lost everything in a single round despite getting a counter punch in first I had 1 stormfang and my 3 HQs exposed with melee as the only option remaining I had all my units huddle together for a last fire/charge phase I whiffed rolls horribly....the cherry on top was my WGBL dying to 6 overwatch ravager shots and rolling 1s and 2s for his SS Final score was 16-13 I was able to hang close by playing the objectives but it eventually all unraveled That DE list simply has too many powerful units and I couldn't erase them fast enough Game 2 Grey Knights/Loyal 32 Guard Draigo Voldus GMDK 3 strike squads 1 purifier 2 interceptors Loyal 32 Never played GK before and had no idea what tricks they could do etc. This game went downhill on turn 1 He deep striked into the middle of the board ruins with his infantry He followed that up with Voldus behind the infantry but able to get LOS for a vortex He popped that on my front line group and got a few mortal wounds on the leviathan and my WGBL Then did a trick that lets him shoot through walls with his 10 man SB unit and they erased my screening intercessors He followed that up with 10 inch charges and got everything into my leviathan preventing me from firing I used HI and wanted to avoid his murder machine HQ and wipe out the infantry. This is how I positioned. WL started out with 4 kills but he pulled them away from my HQs and i was told if you HI you don't get to do the consolidate/pile in stuff if no longer in contact That was new to me and instead of a heroic counter charge 2 of my HQs just looked like goof balls On my turn the Leviathan was still bubble wrapped I moved my RP to smite Voldus and the other HQs got in auto charge range My flyers moved in and sandwiched the HQs to protect them from reinforcements being able to fire I made a placement mistake with 1 flyer and put it on a building to get good position. This would cost me next round because deployment would require me to go DOWN elevation I smite and LL Voldus but only 1 W goes through I spend 3 CP for cloaked by the storm hoping my flyer sandwich with -2 to hit will survive The fight against Voldus is brutal.... I armor of russed Voldus and erased the infantry with my WL attack Everything else then attacked Voldus and we dropped him to 1 W remaining and he burned a reroll to do it His counter attack killed my RP I used honor the chapter to have my WL attack again and finish the job He used only in death to attack again and killed my WL in return When the dust settled we both had 0 CP and many things were dead The problem is he had reinforcements ready and I was losing the battle of attrition I also lost my RP so cloaked by the storm....bye bye...those 3CP would have been nice to have if I had predicted the outcome Next round he DS all his reserves and a horde of power armor shows up on my side of the board Here is where GK shine...the TROOPS have the storm bolters so he has horde firepower and CP benefit of battalion SWs can't pull this off...if we use our WG stormbolter spam they are simply elites He informs me his goal is to kill all my ground forces and force auto loss He kills everything but the leviathan....however he does tie my leviathan up in melee so it can't shoot once again My turn the placement of the stormwolf I mentioned earlier hurts...instead of wulfen and BCs jumping out and rampaging I decide to move 1 more turn to get them in a better position The stormfang disembarks BCs and the gunship lines up a 10 man squad Between the stormfang and BCs charge we delete the unit My aggressors outflank in his rear and delete the last of his loyal 32 leaving me alone and behind cover I thought I was safe here His turn He has no CP but is able to teleport his infantry 2 full squads hunt down my aggressors and after 80ish storm bolters and a successful 9" charge they are killed The rest of his stuff easily mopped up my 6 man BC and he wins b/c I have nothing but flyers left Brutal game for me 31-7 final score Game 3 Ultramarines + BA Bobby G The false Tigurius Telion Banner guy 2 devastators with missile/HB cherubs for mortal wound combo 3x5man sniper scouts for mortal wound fishing Repulsor 5 man aggressor 3 BA scouts 2 BA jump captains Fairly standard gunline with Bobby G reroll everything Turn 1 he kills my intercessors and puts a few mortal wounds on the leviathan So he has his banner character exposed on the rear...bad news is I measured and my flyers with 50" range just couldn't get there turn 1....so it has to wait for later I move up my entire army and get all my shooters in the 6" aura bubble for WL and WGBL On my turn I delete all of his sniper scouts and all the units outside the 6" banner range My flyers are in his face hoping to survive so I can disembark and get the charge in Bad news is he gets enough return fire to put 5 more MW on the leviathan leaving it at 2 His turn he disembarks his aggressors and puts EVERYTHING into the stormwolf He needs his aggressors to mow down my wulfen It comes down to his final unit....telion and he gets the job done The aggressors mow down 4/5 wulfen and his assault phase deletes my BCs He also has 1 BA captain in my rear fighting a rapier I used chooser of the slain and the nearby stormfang dropped him to 2 wounds I am on the backfoot and need a miracle I send my fang into the corner and get the position I need on his banner and telion. They get smoked. My last surviving wulfen advances into the ruins just next to his aggressors for an auto charge AND fight through the wall I declare charge on everything within 12 but roll a 3 then a 5...I leave him there to swing through the wall. He kills 3 aggressors I decide to abandon the ground attack on his castle and get my HQs out of dodge (without Wulfen I don't think I can take Bobby G out) My HQs all advance to the rear Bad news is the RP rolls a 1 and needed a 4 to get behind cover He is exposed with no shooting protection but he does the job and smites the BA captain down The WL was in position as plan B if I had to shoot/charge in to finish the job On his turn the repulsor chases down my units and mows down the RP and drops the WL to 1 W At this point I have nothing to fight back with and the end is inevitable Game ends when my WL makes a kamikaze charge on the repulsor. I have only 1 W and survive all his overwatch. Then he remembers his ironhail stubber and fires it. It hits. I roll a 1 and am out of CP. Two separate times in this match it came down to the final shot he had available and I was on the losing end of it Final score 31-19 Final thoughts Got absolutely smoked at the tournament yesterday. 0-3 and dead last in the results I haven't played ultra competitive 40k since our codex came along and was rusty as hell so that didn't help...but a pure SW list has serious fundamental flaws when compared to everything out there Everyone here is gearing up for the LVO and the heavy hitters were also in attendance For example...Geoff Robinson went 3-0 with an AdMech army Basically people had their hard core lists in tune up stages and I walked in fresh off the boat with a pure SW no experience list haha However, I also had fun. I enjoy the hobby and had nice talks with people despite my performance. I wish I had more free time to attend the regular league but RL.... Anyways...my unit analysis I didn't use my HQs the way I imagined I "could" The bikes and the hunter saga technically give me a huge threat range but I never did it because I would be gunned down by return fire and exposed I couldn't use it as an end game trick for objectives because a SW army doesn't have enough bodies to end up in that situation The HQ I liked the most was my RP He did failed multiple smites and LL chances but I'll forgive him He is getting my MVP award (and the obligatory camera shot) I definitely became "attached" to him over the course of the tournament He is the Ice Wolf....he locks things down and counters potential tricks the enemy wants to pull between his armor of russ and chooser of the slain He is strong utility HQ and I think I will use him as such going forward I buff myself with fury of wolf spirits and he basically has immunity from being charged (he has 9 attacks base and will attack first) If he is near anyone with melee power it just increases the odds of striking an opponent down first He also has amazing synergy with the leviathan. I warned every opponent in advance I could pull the trick if he tried to DS (I didn't ambush anyone and go AHA!) I was disappointed with my flyers The have a bunch of guns for a Space Wolf unit....but when I saw the firepower other armies had I just got sad. They are subpar in a big picture view of things. I will probably retire them and only use them in fun league matches Disappointed with my wulfen as well. They probably fall under the "if you need it to work bring 2" rule of 40k I will try to implement them differently in the future because I know they are good. The problem was they were priority target #1 and always got smoked. Aggressors were mixed bag. They were a nice pop out and mow down chaff unit but always got obliterated in return. I need to figure out better position/usage of the unit. They DO cause a tremendous amount of fear in the opponent which I liked. In the future I think these guys are just sent after the odd scout in a far off objective. mow them down and then I park on it. If you want to commit to remove them I can live with it...they are only 111 points. Rapiers were actually useful...the indirect fire helps finish off a squad when my other guns don't do the job. In a game where kill points per round matter that kind of utility is very valuable. They also fill the tax I need to bring a leviathan and I can park them out of LOS on my rear objectives. Not powerful but useful for ITC scoring and situations that come up Leviathan was good as always...but also a fire magnet...like always. I keep making bad deployment choices with it. I put it too far forward. I really need to play him more conservatively. BCs were interesting. The 6 PF attacks on the charge are powerful and I could sneak a few of the chainsword wounds through but the squad isn't enough to clear large units. As a troop v troop unit I found it lacking because the troops I went up against were 10+ models. They also have no staying power. 6 PA models are too easy to erase for most units out in the tournament scene. I need to rethink the troops I use for a battalion. I am back to the drawing board....jealous of the buckets of insane offense I saw thrown at me I dragged my BA friend to this tournament with me. He started 40K at the escalation league with me has been a regular at league night since then. His skill growth is impressive. He took BA/Adeptus Mechanicus and went 2-1 I was hella proud for him AM is a meta shift choice right now. They are cheap and provide more punch for a cheap battalion. My friend uses 3 onagers and they are insane....I am tempted to get my own AM battalion after seeing what they do Basically take icarus array and each one....anything that flies is hit on 2s and it has 10 powerful shots....if it doesn't fly you hit on 4's but can spend a CP to hit on 2s...so it can also blow 10 shots at chaff and still have an impact. The dominus parks with the unit for reroll 1s and repair damage. Extremely powerful combo. Every game I checked in on him that combo was parked in a corner of the map and NOBODY attempted to come close to him. He mowed down everything from custodes (fly makes them easy targets) to hordes of orks. 3 of them are just over 300 points. So 30ish powerful shots for roughly the cost of a stormwolf. That is the kind of codex imbalance I ran into face first Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353098-tournament-report/ Share on other sites
PeteySödes
Sorry it was rough! It’s funny you were there, I follow stuff closely on BCP and laughed to my friend about how his list he’s prepping for our team tournament was basically the same as Robinson’s. 2 hours later I’m reading your report! It’s for sure an uphill battle for us but it’s doable depending on the mission and matchup. Kasper_Hawser
Sorry to hear about your losses mate, but seriously speaking your list was kinda weak on bodies and too many expensive stuff like two flyers, Aggressor and Leviathan. And seriously, if you were rusty, why in the world did you go into a competitive tournament? Not sure if you've been hanging around the meta these days, but right now 8th edition is very brutal to pure marine list unless you REALLY know what you are doing. It's like you decided to start playing tennis after a long hiatus and then chose to compete against Serena Williams and other professional tennis players (sorry, only tennis player I know). I really hope you don't completely turn off your wolves, but before you cry imbalance, I hope you will go back to analysing your list and strategy. You already mentioned above you forgot quite a few things and messed up placement a few times which denied you a few key moments to turn the tide. Not to mention now knowing enough of your opponents. Overall, despite me not liking your list, I think you were just rusty and at the same time seemingly unprepared for every other army, even the Grey Knights, which while not weak (IMHO), have a lot of weaknesses which you were in a position to counter (just hide your infantry in Stormwolves/fang or cover as they don't have heavy weapons beyond smite. Knowing your enemy is very important too. Just be more careful next time. It's already hard enough to find moments of glory for Wolves, including for myself. I went to a tournament just to play games. I knew what I was walking into. I have no time in RL to play as often as I want. I can clear my schedule for 1 day once in a while and either go to a single league game or 3 tournament games I'm choosing 3 tournament games I also know my list wasn't meta. The goal was just play games. And i wanted to play with what I just purchased and assembled. Also hiding from the GK isn't an option. If I stay in the flyer he tables me (which he did with my wulfen and BC still alive in the stormwolf). Using walls to block LOS doesn't matter either. His GK can fire through walls. He has the perfect tools for a low body count elite force like I brought. More boys less toys is something I need to consider. I'm also changing my strategy from attack to shoot and counter assault Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353098-tournament-report/#findComment-5234280 Share on other sites

I'm also changing my strategy from attack to shoot and counter assault Sorry if I sounded harsh. Shooting and counter assault happens to be the playstyle I favor. Mostly due to my poor luck running assault lists. Semi gun line with 2-3 Long Fangs with Rhinos/Razorbacks with GH running interference. Doesn't work all the time either but I find myself satisfied most of the time even if I lose. Still toying with the idea of a list with no Long Fangs in it, they may or may not be the crutch of my lists. I just love our grizzled old veterans. TiguriusX
The guard infantry usually have mortars as well so they sit in the rear on objectives out of LOS and indirect fire at you very good usage of points and 5CP for approx. 195 points (yes that cheap...an entire battalion costs what our cheapest useless no upgrade 3 troops cost) I'm strongly leaning towards the AdMech version right now The generic version can be 235 or even lower but i added some firepower My preferred admech battalion ally 535pts (bc it includes the amazing onager combo...this detachment is 2 start collecting skiitari boxes) Dominus Enginseer 3xrangers with 2 transauric sniper rifles per squad (s7 d3 and can pick off characters...i tested vindicare assassins previously and learned you can really F with eldar and others who need buffs and auras from a weak HQ. 6 sniper shots total in this battalion...not a tax but a good unit on its own merits) 2xonagers with icarus array These things each have 10 strong anti air shots hitting on 2 rerolling each if dominus is nearby Gonna be the building block and CP source for my future lists My SW force is elite focus...3 troops for the battalion are too many points from what i have brainstormed. Just going outrider (3 cyber wolves) with aggressors and wulfen outflanking with jump WL and WGBL hope aggressors clear weak screen then reroll charge hits and wounds with the strike force if the rest of my army does their job turns 1 and 2 I'm hoping my strike force can't be blown off the board Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353098-tournament-report/#findComment-5234708 Share on other sites
TiguriusX
My BA friend came over so our kids could have a play date. We got in a match to test some new ideas out. He made a minor tweak to his 2-1 tournament list from above (upgraded his skiitari to a battalion instead of a spearhead) I built a more competitive list and figured this is a bonus report for the original tournament post No pics during the match...I got the board post game to help visualize though My list Rune Knights (SW + Knights) ++ Super-Heavy Detachment +3CP (Imperium - Imperial Knights) ++ + No Force Org Slot + Household Choice: House Vulker, Questor Mechanicus + Lord of War + Armiger Helverins . Didn't give me much room to take advantage of my range Also couldn't screen very well because only 6" on the wings Secondary Objectives Mine Butcher's bill Marked for death (10xscouts; Contemptor 1; Contemptor 2; Vanguard) Old school His Marked for death (Wulfen; Armiger 1; Armiger 2; RP-Jump Recon King Slayer-Knight Crusader His Onagers were in the back left corner and his Contemptors had back middle His rangers were behind LOS on the left, right and middle He puts a unit of scouts on each objective in the middle left/right I put my Crusader in the near middle and avoid LOS from 1 of his Contemptors I hide a Helverin in the near left corner out of LOS but he countered with his 10 man scouts up as far as possible (basically turn 1 charge was highly probable) I put my GH behind the box/hill close left I put intercessors with stalker rifles on top of the near middle terrain I put intercessors with normal bolt rifles behind the near right terrain My wulfen are a new test. No more outflanking or using transports with them. I put them near middle behind the wall and out of LOS as a counter charge unit who I can move forward using LOS blocking terrain as needed. He put Captain Smash and inceptors in reserve I put 3 rune priests, aggressors and terminators in reserve He won the roll off and I failed to seize He pushed his 10 man scout forward and basically hugged the edge of the box/hill terrain for a 6" charge into my GH and Helverin His Chaplain and Librarian Dread were not far behind He also put his veteran vanguard 9" from my crusader Turn 1 He is able to bring my middle Helverin down to 4 wounds He puts 4 wounds on the Crusader His scouts and vanguard make their charge Scouts get buffed with rage and have a ridiculous amount of dice on the attack with chain swords His scouts kill 4/5 grey hunters and consolidate into and trap the Helverin to prevent it from shooting He was expecting to kill all the GHs but I made 5 armor saves for the last one His Vanguard make it into my knight and Wulfen killing a single Wulfen and putting a few more wounds on the Crusader In retaliation my Crusader stomps 3 guys down (they had storm shields but eventually failed enough) The Wulfen then clean up the rest and consolidate 3" towards my rear left corner and the scouts. If I roll well for the advance I can get into that fight and help out My turn the wulfen roll a 6 and go racing towards the scouts. They need a 5" charge to get in My 4 wound helverin and Knight break to the right and aim to dislodge his scouts from the middle right objective while keeping terrain between the onagers and contemptors Back right intercessors move up as well to help screen out the smash captain and keep him from my Crusader I focus on clearing him from the midfield objective. I use helm dominatus on the scouts and the damaged helverin opens fire rerolling 1's killing 3/5 My intercessors join in but whiff badly and only kill 1 I have to waste my Crusader firepower to finish the unit. I put the avenger and stubber into the single scout while the missile and rapid fire battle cannon are directed at his contemptor. I activate exploding 6s and open fire. The scout is erased and I manage to down his contemptor as well. In the assault phase my wulfen obliterate the scouts I have kill/hold and kill more (3) He has hold/hold more (2) I also tally up a few secondary points Butcher bill 1/4 Marked for death 3/4 (killed all but the other contemptor in 1 round) Old school 1/4 (first blood achieved) He managed recon (1/4) and a KS point (1/4) for doing 4+ damage to my knight Turn 2 His librarian dread comes swooping in and lands next to the near left Helverin Chaplain turns around and retreats to the objective He drops his inceptors and Smash Captain on the mid right objective where I had directed my firepower last turn His inceptors split fire among my intercessors and knight. He wasn't expecting the intercessors to make so many rolls and they survive the shots The librarian meltas the Helverin and will eventually finish the job in melee then consolidate into the lone GH The onagers finish off the wounded Helverin and put more wounds on my Crusader dropping me a bracket On my turn the Wulfen move into auto charge range of his Librarian dread My knight uses a CP to operate at his top bracket and marches as close to the inceptors and smash captain as possible I outflank my aggressor middle left to clear his scouts off the objective I deep strike the terminators into the middle to screen for the RP The triple RP fall in behind them. I make sure I am within 18" of the devastators and his inceptors In my psychic phase I living lightning and spend a CP to make it D6 then shoot it at his 2 man devastator squad I roll a 1....use a CP and get a 5. It kills the squad then hops to his skiitari rangers killing 3/5 I then smite 6 wounds off his inceptors with Njal In the shooting phase my knight erases the inceptors and drops the contemptor to 4 wounds My intercessors take some potshots and his Smash Captain and put 2 wounds on him The aggressors kill 4/5 scouts on the middle left objective in the melee phase my units go bonkers The wulfen erase the librarian dreadnought and he explodes killing the GH and putting a wound on the wulfen. I pass all but 1 of the FNP for the wulfen My Crusader charges the smash captain and tap dances him to oblivion I have kill/hold/kill more (3) He has kill/hold (2) Secondary I get Butcher Bill 2/4 and kill his warlord for Old School 2/4 He got recon (2/4) Marked he killed both armigers (2/4) and enough wounds on my crusader for another KS (2/4) Turn 3 He pushes his Skititari into the fight to get the objectives on both wings His onagers and contemptor manage to drop my Crusader all the way down to a single wound but can't kill me off One onager fires at my aggressors and kills 2/3 On my turn I focus on points. I move my intercessors on the right flank up on the objective I advance my single aggressor on the left onto the objective The terminators and TDA RPs move left to keep pressure on that objective The RP-JP pushes directly forward and uses buildings to block LOS from everything except the contemptor My knight spends another CP to operate at full health and pushes directly forward next to the skiitari who have emerged I decide to hide my wulfen behind the hill instead of running across no-man's land at his onagers. They are marked for death and worth a CP if he can finish the job In the psychic phase I use LL on kill his solo scout and bounce 2 more wounds onto his chaplain I then smite the chaplain to death and clear him away from the left objective so it can be claimed by my aggressors The RP-JP smites a few wounds onto the contemptor In the shooting phase my aggressor kills a few rangers The knight flames a few wounds onto the nearby skiitari and pours his AT into the contemptor and his avenger and stubber into the last few survivors of another ranger team The Crusader rolls 12 for his RFBC and the blasts everything to pieces I take a risky move and charge into the nearby rangers. I survive overwatch with 1 W and stomp them off the board I kill/hold and have kill more/hold more (4) He has hold only (1) I lock up another butcher bill (3/4) and my final marked for death by killing the contemptor (4/4) He has maxed his KS due to all the wounds on my knight (4/4) but I have shut down his recon and hidden my wulfen and RP JP to deny him marked for death He tells me it is the worst performance his inceptor and smash captain combo has ever had. Nobody has ever cleared them off the board that fast. It was mostly the knight crusader... He basically has is Onagers left Turn 4 His onagers kill my single wound knight and the last aggressor. One onager fires at the terminators but gets 0 wounds through I ride everything out and just keep holding my objective For the first turn I am unable to kill anything I hold (1) He kills holds and has more of both (4) Turn 5 Not much left on the board at this point He has 3 onagers and his dominus His Onagers move towards the objectives and fire at my TDA killing 3/5 I only move the TDA and RPs towards him. Get a few smite and LL wounds and SB shots to drop an onager to 4 wounds. Cast tempest on another onager so 2/3 are firing on 5's now Turn 6 The onagers finish off the terminators then kill Njal (he rolled very hot) We tally up the points and see I am ahead without having to do my turn 6 Final score His final turn he gets kill and hold (2) This brings his total score to 13 primary and 8 secondary for 21 total Without even doing my T6 I have 14 primary and 9 secondary for 23 total All I need is to sit on an objective and jump into his deployment and it pushes me to 25 while his max score is 23 Winner Rune Knights! MVP and recap Good first run for the Knight Crusader He shot and killed -2 Mortis Contemptor - 3/5 Inceptor (he would have slaughtered a bunch more as well) -2 5 man Skiitari Ranger He stomped -Smash Captain -5 man Skiitari Ranger Even though I have a ton of CP my combos don't actually rely on the CP to work Late game RPs are an interesting buzz saw to drop on my opponent. The mortal wound machine is brutal when units have already been removed from the board by shooting. It was very much a war of attrition and the list I had could keep grinding away mid and late game I enjoyed my list and will take it to league for further testing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353098-tournament-report/#findComment-5238266 Share on other sites
Kallas
Nice list, and a good solid win, well done! How did the Terminators do? I know they got shot up quite quickly, but did you feel they were worth it? I ask because I've been considering a big ten-men Storm Bolter/Shield unit as a big anchor. With Arjac and Stone they'd kick out 40 Bolters then 41 melee attacks, so pretty good for killing chaff! Your unit of five is basically the same, so I'm curious what your thoughts on them are. The terminators did exactly what I expected them to and I was very happy with the outcome of the field test. They died because the Onagers had nothing else to shoot at and I put them in the line of fire to push Njal and the RP-TDA forward and kill off his last infantry on an objective 30 shots with lots of D2 weapons against a 5 man unit....so ya they died but they soaked up a ton of firepower in the process and kept shots off my HQs until turn 6 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353098-tournament-report/#findComment-5238491 Share on other sites
