rcoon
Currently I run a simple double Battalion list. Loyal 32 detachment, and a basic Custode battalion of trajaan and a bike captain with 10 bikes and a vexilla attached. This list is great and absolutely fine against most standard army types, however I'm hopelessly struggling against Imperial Knights and heavy armour armies like Death Guard. My question is what long range fire support should I add for knights? I've tried a Shadowsword and its just not feasible. I have 3 LRBT and an Exterminator Pask Leman Russ. would a Spearhead or Supreme Command of tank commanders be sensible? Should I look at Armiger Helverins? A Telemon Dreadnought? Go and throw cash at a Castellan Knight? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353169-long-range-fire-support-for-custodes/ Share on other sites
Slasher956
Leman Russ in a spearhead... that why they get Objective Secured so can help with taking objectives as well as long range support. MARK0SIAN
Leman Russ are great but onager dunecrawlers are also pretty good anti-armour platforms if you give them a neutron laser. They’re only T7 vs T8 for the Russ’ and have 11 wounds but they’ve got. 5+ invulnerable save that can reroll 1s if you’re near another dunecrawler. The neutron laser is D3 shots at S10 meaning it wounds anything short of an actual Titan on at least a 3 with D6 damage but rolls of 1 & 2 count as 3. Plus it ignores movement penalties for heavy weapons and is BS3+. Add in the fact that it’s only 117 points and it can give the Russ’ a run for their money. Both are good though and have their strengths and weaknesses so in the end it will probably boil down to personal preference but personally, if I was intending to use them as simple mobile anti-armour turrets I’d go dunecrawler any day, whereas I’d go Russ if I wanted them to be more flexible. I’d skip the Telemon entirely, it’s a lovely model and some of its stats are pretty good but it is simply not worth its points, it’s way too expensive compared to the other options out there.
