FlamingDeth
Hello! I bought Dark Imperium and First Strike for the Primaris derps in it and decided that since the death guard don't sell for enough to find it worth it that I'd just keep them for an instant 750 point army. Started some test models. Technically this is the second, the first is taking a bath right now because it was too terrible to share. Going for a rusty metal scheme and I was thinking green on the shoulder insets, but haven't decided for sure on that part. Hopefully he looks like you'd get tetanus if you touched him. I may add some hazard stripes of some kind somewhere on them. For fluff it's either going to be some kind of death guard siege company or a chapter that fell hard and fast. I haven't decided yet! Anyways, let me know what you think. This'll be a slow updating thread as my painting time is fairly minimal at the moment. El_Dicko
Looks pretty sick already! Maybe a heavy wash on the fleshy bits like drukari violet would be enough to set them off might need a pink or white dry brush tho. But killer rust effect Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353188-getting-this-party-started/#findComment-5237147 Share on other sites
FlamingDeth
Thanks folks! For the fleshy parts I'm planning making it mostly white with a purple tinge, hoping that'll look sickly enough. I think I am going to go with green shoulder insets as well. Also maybe...yellow eye lenses? Not set on weapon casings and cloth. Casings may be a good place for hazard stripes. I don't have any painting progress but I did spend some time going through and assembling some stuff out of DI. Dear nurgle these models are glorious. I was originally just going to use the DG as a backup army in case someone wanted to play at my place and didn't want to bring their stuff but I'm not sure I can do that, these guys are just too fun...my particular favorite is the guy without the bloated belly plate who has all the grenades. For background I've determined that they're going to be part of a DG siege company. I'm not super familiar with the background for the death guard (yet) but if it's plausible they'll have fought reasonably often alongside the iron warriors and, more importantly, against the Dark Angels. That way I can tie them in with my DA successors with a nice, long grudge match. FlamingDeth
Not dead! I did have some nurgle rub off on me for a bit and mostly I was just too lazy to take pictures, but the merry band so far: Just a potato pic. There's some paint on all of them, and while I've been trying to "speed paint" it's ended up being mostly me painting whichever part of whichever mini I felt like at the time, so no real organization. Helps satisfy the hobby ADD though. Hoping to have them finished to a basic level by next week so that I can start using them in games. The rust and the skin is done though, so that's most of the time consuming stuff. apologist
Lovely contrast between the grungy armour and pallid skin. I think working on things as they catch your fancy is a great way to paint – it's fun, after all, not a second job :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353188-getting-this-party-started/#findComment-5262165 Share on other sites
